Top-30 recruit Darius Adams decommits from UConn.

We could use a bigger combo guard if Carter opts to get drafted by the Wizards..

Grizzlies now owe the Wizards pick 18/19/20 assuming they lose to OKC.

I'd love to watch Carter play for my Wiz, but he is better suited at Arizona.

When elite prospects decommit so late in the recruiting calendar?
It makes me believe things were done for the wrong reasons.
Your program did not have a bad season, and your coach is still there.
What was the point of you deciding to back out NOW? 6

(Did some Googles on the subject matter)
It was implied that UConn was going to have a crowded yet experienced backcourt in 2025-26.
The road to seeing the floor looked like a traffic jam of sorts.
No so sure coming to Arizona would be much difference until Bryant makes his choice.
I am also not sure Adams would still be on the board by the time Bryant made his decision.

My guess would be he is too similar to Burries and that would be his competition for minutes. Not CB. I agree we need back up 2 guard though unless Delly can play some 2.

I actually think that Nelson will be playing a decent amount of minutes alongside Bradley, if/when Burries is on the bench.  Delly can also fill that role at SG when we play a larger lineup.

The only real "need" is a backup big man that can swing between PF and C, similar to Awaka.

That's why I said if Carter doesn't return because UConn's Hurley pulled a Tommy and over-recruited. If Carter goes, there will be 25min available and they aren't going to Delly automatically.

Delly is the backup.

I don't think Tommy will go after Adams, but he could. It wouldn't be different than have KJ Lewis right now except this kid can score the ball.

6'5" is 6'5". KJ Lewis- for example- would have probably made us a Final Four team if he could have shot the ball. It's not like Duke decimated us. We lost 100-93. Imagine if we had Shooters that could play defense?

I don't like Nelson being placed into a "Delly" scenario where he is being battered around by the level of competition we play. Delly is a spot shooter and on certain plays, he has proven to create with nice layups. He's not Ja Morant out there from Murray State posterizing people and dishing 10 assists a game

You lost me. Adams is a guard. CB is a forward. How do Carter's potential minutes translate to a SG's minutes?

You referenced KJ who played the 3. I'm guessing Adams couldn't come in and fill those shoes guarding a Big12 3 right away. We already have a weakness at guarding the 3, but at least Delly can rain 3's. I don't know much about Adam's shot to compare...but I assume you meant KJ couldn't shoot from long distance not just score, because he could score, just couldn't shoot outside of 15 feet.

If Carter comes back, Im thinking maybe Carter could start at the 3 and KOA the 4.  I don't think Adams can start at the 3...and CB's minutes wont translate to a guard's minutes.
I agree with KC Cats, if we don't have Carter, our biggest need is a back-up 4 assuming KOA is good and strong enough to start at the 4.

I completely agree with this point. I also think that KJ would have been a decent shooter if he didn't injure his wrist. There was an obvious drop off when the wrap magically appeared on his right hand.

If Carter does end up leaving, I would immediately pivot to Aristode as the starter at the 3 whether he's polished enough or not. I like his upside way too much to allow his development to be restricted to spot mins & work in practice. Real game experience and survival will pay off, and he doesn't need to take a lot of shots or handle the ball routinely to make an impact in a game. Then, we'd be looking to the portal for a backup wing, possibly with enough skill to double as a backup CG. The type of guy who would settle for a role like that would probably be a Senior from a lower conference that just wants to be a part of a Winner in their last year of college ball. Similar to Nelson in that regard, but without the selling point of "coming home".
