Hey PB, when I reread your original statement with sarcasm in mind, I could see your point. Unfortunately at first read I would agree with other posters that your assumption is wacko. That's an ongoing problem with print media ie: Twitter, Facebook etc. No opportunity for the reader to hear sarcasm as in a verbal statement.

We all want to know what will come of this, but the NCAA and media presences like ESPN, Vitale, and Shalalala are getting the laughs that our school and its fanbase have been living with their head's hijacked. Worried at ever turn. It's getting to be a psychological mind game at this point. Don't let these people win. Don't let them take your headspace.

What really happened is (read:time for some good ol' conspiracy theory so strap on your tin hats boys)

Yahoo came out with a well researched and sourced story complete with evidence, pictures, names, dates, amounts, ledgers, and pretty much everything else needed to completely implicate a bunch of high profile schools. Mainly Adidas schools. However, not one time in that Yahoo report or anywhere on the ledgers or pics was Zona mentioned. Nowhere.

Less than 24 hours later, ESPN and Mark Schlabach release their hit job story which was singularly sourced. My guess is it was Christian Dawkins who told Schlabach that Miller was ON TAPE discussing 100k payment for Ayton to go to Zona. The tape as we know now, DOES NOT EXIST. However the damage was done and Miller/Zona/Ayton became the  big story with ESPN brass desperate to prove they were still a legit news organization they let Schlabach run with a sketchy uncorroborated story.

As to why Dawkins did that, maybe Book was the leak for the Yahoo story which is why he made sure Zona was never implicated and Dawkins wanted revenge. Either way, Schlabach got played. ESPN and Dick Vitale have painted themselves in a corner and now cannot admit they fugged up big time or risk being sued for libel. Not that Zona or Miller want to sit for a deposition so they would never sue anyway.

ESPN can eat a Dick.

All True, except for one small thing.

The tape DOES EXIST. It's transcript was used in Dawkins trial - so unless you are suggesting that federal investigators and the attorney generals office are forging evidence, then the premise of your entire argument is false. If they are just making stuff up, then we (the country, our society and the future) have a real problem on our hands.

Here is where a credible defense might have been a good idea instead of the bury your head in the sand defense Arizona and Miller used. Force the government to produce the tape to prove your innocence...Gee, I wonder why they did not try that?

The media is out of control - anyone with a triple digit IQ knows that - and it has been for decades now, it is just getting worse. You can say that you want good, investigative journalism because it might have revealed the truth. But that seems antithetical to the outcome some AZ fans actually want because Miller would be coaching at the YMCA in Ellwood City, PA (or perhaps even in federal prison) right now if that were the case.

Interesting. Can you point me in the direction of the tape of SEAN MILLER saying he is willing to pay 100K for Ayton to attend Zona? I dont want to get in another back in forth with you I just want to see the transcript of MILLER SAYING HE PAID OR WOULD PAY AYTON 100K to attend Zona. Not Dawkins, not Book, not Ayton's handlers. Sean Miller, on tape, saying that. Please point me in the right direction sir, I could be mistaken. It has happened before.

"A" tape exists.  If it was even remotely consistent with ESPN's story, they would have made it public on day one.

Since the truth didn't line up with their initial article/assumption...they were forced to take a backseat and quietly "eat a dick" (to respectfully quote PBCat).

I see, so you KNOW that Book is the one who said that (unknowingly) on tape but you want Miller to say it or its not true?

Hitler never admitted to his crimes - but there were admissions (which are still on tape) by other Nazi's at the Nuremberg trials though...is that good enough for you or do you need to hear it from Hitler himself?

My point was not a defense of ESPN... in fact I noted that the media is out of control. But that does not prove Miller's innocence.

Fact: ESPN reported that SEAN MILLER THE HEAD COACH WAS ON TAPE talking 100K for Ayton.

Fact: No such tape exists.

There is no wiggle room here budday. Stop pretending you don't know exactly what the issue is with an incredibly damaging and also inaccurate report. It was a hitjob because they got played. Dawkins bent the truth a little to sell the story.
