Would be funny if Brown came here.  Lauri for Leaf, Brown for Oneal. Zona would have gotten the better of fUCLA twice! Bear Down Jordan Brown!

The SMART thing would have been for Alford to try and capitalize and get both Brown AND O'Neal!
Instead he is going to let one walk that he could have had because another wanted to come?
He's not a killer, I would have been trying to convince Brown to still come to UCLA and tell him that he and O'Neal wouldn't play the same position and both could get plenty of minutes while at UCLA.

"I kind of re-opened up and Stanford's gotten involved and also Arizona, too," he said Monday at a practice for this week's McDonald's All-American in Atlanta. "I'm just kind of waiting out the process now to figure things out because most of my time spent up until now was spent getting ready for this."

"Both of those schools were schools that recruited me before," Brown said of the two Pac-12 schools.

"Just kind of waiting on how things go," Brown said of Arizona. "If things get cleared up, then I'm going to think more on it."

Brown talks a bit more about Arizona in a recent interview. Skip to about the 3:25 minute mark

The problem is that most of this won't be settled by the LSP.
So that could turn off some elite prospects with them not getting information on our status while Miller is still recruiting them.

Maybe he wanted to see if Miller would be leaving?  I think its a matter of one person pulling the trigger, then the rest will follow.  Lets hope at least!

I have been operating under this same assumption. The one thing I hope Miller is reminding them is that Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz (The last 2 #1 NBA draft picks) played for losing teams that did not play at all in the post season... So who cares about a post-season ban which would probably be the worst case scenario (NCAA might take away future recruiting privileges or future schollies but those would have no effect on Brown or B Will or anyone of em).

The fact is there is not another program on our level who can offer these kids everything we can (amazing facilities, chris rounds, and all the playing time they can handle).

From what I have read, the FBI is nowhere near finished with  their investigation.  After they conclude theirs the NCAA would then have to begin theirs which could also take quite some time.  IF after all that we are hit with probation, any 5 stars or high 4 stars who sign here for next year would probably have long since left for the NBA.  If you have confidence in your abilities and believe you can be a one and done, there is no reason NOT to sign a LOI with the U of A for next year anyway.

Might not be a really optimistic way to look at the situation but I think it's realistic.

I had the same thoughts on OND but I don't think we have any sure fire OND available. Injury or PED or grades or whatever could just as easily turn one into two for the borderliners. So many programs using all the ammo they can get to recruit against us and fear is an easy flame to fan. It's one heck sales job Miller has to do.

The good news is that very few programs can say with certainty they won't be caught up so the playing field is a little more level if you can pitch it right. Miller still has a good record for putting players to pro ranks. Plus we have PT to spare.

Interview with Brown sounded like we are a long shot. Miller is really going to work to earn his keep now.

Just my biased opinion, but I think the likelihood of him coming here is actually pretty high. Fortunately for us, he said he's not in any hurry to commit anywhere, which is nice because Brandon Williams is taking his time, understandably, to cover all his bases. If that Brandon Roy hire really does happen, I think Williams would sign up pretty quickly, and then Brown may follow his lead soon thereafter.
