Article says Arizona is daring NCAA to do something about it by playing Ayton

Arizona sent a clear and unmistakable message Saturday afternoon when it announced that Deandre Ayton is eligible and will play at Oregon later that night.

The Wildcats are brazenly gambling that the NCAA will not be able to uncover proof that their prized freshman received any money in return for signing last year...

If Ayton's family did not receive any money, they did NOTHING wrong. They can't prevent two outsiders to discuss ideas on how to secure Ayton's committment. Ayton has NO control over that.

IIRC Many other teams cleared their players within a day of the news reports, not sure Az is "daring the NCAA to do something here"...

As a matter of fact I think only ONE player named as receiving money/family getting funds sat out this week, everyone else was cleared by internal investigations that got a rubber stamp by the NCAA...

There was so much "other" news surrounding Ayton that his being cleared might not have been an issue with them, the issue was the coach, who sat out.

I understand Miller sitting out that game with the hostile crowd but I personally think he should have coached anyways.  He made a statement declaring your innocence so him and school should stand behind it.  Words without action are hollow. The team was fighting though it and so should their leader.  This amount of damage control won't change anything.  Should this all be true, punishment will be the same either way so collect the wins and push on.

Quoted from ESPN article:  "First and foremost, that's a decision the school has to make," Emmert said in an interview on CBS. Emmert noted no NCAA process has been initiated into Arizona.

NCAA is a mind-boggling clueless organization.

Exactly. Not sure how UofA is the only team `daring` in this case. + The news surrounding other players via Yahoo talk about payments `received` (by family, friend etc) while ESPN news mentioning SM discussing potential payment. Nothing to do with Ayton at this point.
