You wonder a guy like McCoy would he have been drafted if he played at a bigger program an had that exposure.

That is the vibe I got, because why else would the #4 ranked player in the country NOT want to go any of the major schools in the country, not even the local school Washington?

You send him to SDSU, a Mountain West school that wins but they don't play enough big games to draw the NBA Scouts.
SDSU and UNLV continue to land big fish like this and you forget that these kids are even there.
Unless there is more to it than simply getting to the NBA, I do not understand this sometimes.

No question.  If he put up 33/10 against Ayton and had an Indiana jersey on (instead of UNLV)...he'd jump up the draft boards.

And to think that some of these prospects believe going and star at the mid-major route is the best idea.
The majority of the higher picks come from the elite schools.
The only way the mid-majors get that type of hype/buzz is if they show out in the tournament.
There are too many examples to support it, but these handlers seem to think otherwise.

I agree.  They get their playing time but there is nobody there to see it.  They may put up great numbers but the competition will always be questioned.  If the interest of the player is before all else, they would not end up at mid-majors(with the exception of a few elite mid-major programs like Gonzaga).  And you are dead on, usually the only way these kids end up as high picks is if they make a LOT of noise in the tournament.
I definitely think Brandon McCoy gets drafted, probably in the first round, if he went to a UCLA, Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas level basketball program.
Bear Down.

McCoy going to any of those three schools, with the numbers he put up, he would have been a lottery pick.
Exposure is key with these prospects and relying off the buzz/hype you had coming into college to force the scouts to continue to watch you isn't always the case.
They want to see the games with the most amount of prospects, and SDSU won't have many of those; but Arizona/UCLA would, or Arizona/Oregon would.
