Arizona Overpowers Alabama, Pulls Away for 96–75 Statement Win

The  #1 Arizona Wildcats continued their dominant run Saturday night with a convincing 96-75 victory over #12 Alabama Crimson Tide in the C.M. Newton Classic in Birmingham. Arizona outscored Alabama 57-34 in the second half after trailing briefly at the break, turning the game with a 14-4 surge that flipped the momentum. Freshman **Brayden Burries exploded for a career-high 28 points, drilling five 3-pointers and adding seven rebounds to lead the Wildcats' balanced attack. Arizona also controlled the glass — 52 rebounds to 32 — with Tobe Awaka (15) and Motiejus Krivas (14) anchoring the effort, while Jaden Bradley chipped in with 13 points and seven assists and Ivan Kharchenkov added 10 points and five steals. The win keeps Arizona undefeated (9-0) and marks their fifth victory over a ranked opponent this season — a feat not matched in decades.

This Alabama edition of "What Reed Sees" was going to be gloomy as hell until the 2nd half came.
Here we go!

Pros
Arizona did a good job attacking the offensive glass in the 1st half to keep the game close (+)
Does Bradley ever miss a shot? He is playing like an All-Big 12 + All-American prospect (++)
Burries/Kharchenkov lead Arizona on that 12-1 run in the 2nd half that blew this game open (++)
Burries is playing like the 5* OND prospect we expected him to play like the moment he arrived on campus (+++)
Arizona does not win this game without Dell'Orso's play on the perimeter in the 1st half while Bradley was out (++)
Arizona does not win this game without Awaka/Krivas play inside in the 1st half while Peat was out (++)

Cons
They are blocking a lot of your shots inside, maybe try a pump fake? (-)
You know they want to shoot the 3PT, you have to run them OFF the 3PT line! (-)
You have to be stronger with the ball! They are swiping at EVERYTHING! (-)

Comments
Who do I have to talk to about these "neutral" site games? UCLA in Inglewood, and Alabama in Birmingham?  (-)
Arizona got punked for the majority of the 1st half by Alabama! (--)
Arizona punked Alabama ever since that 12-1 run in the 2nd half (++)
Is Kharchenkov the most important prospect on this team?
I can tell if Burries is going to hit his shots from deep from the release based on the arc of the shot. If I can see that, one of these Arizona coaches better be able to see that too and coach him through it!

You could tell where most of my notes came from in the game.
A lot of the negatives came in the first half.
A lot of the positives came in the 2nd half.
I am glad someone else was able to step up in this game not named Bradley/Peat, even though Bradley knocked down several buckets in the 1st half to keep Arizona in this game.
This was Burries coming out party, and I am glad it happened in Arizona's last big game of OOC to keep his name on NBA Draft boards.
After this game, compared with his last two games, I am almost ready to say that Burries would be leaving Arizona for the NBA after this season.
His Big-12 play is going to go a long way against the likes of some of the elite teams with other NBA prospects that the scouts are going to flock to in Houston/Iowa State/Kansas and Texas Tech.

Just wait until the Refs slap 2 or 3 cheapies on Tobe Rodman and Krivas in the 1st half. Then you will see a different narrative when Koa is playing the 5 and Aristode the 4 with Deli-Burries-Bradley chucking because we won't have the Gortat Seals

60% of the team on the floor is risk-adverse to taking Free Throws. That is why.
