Hired after the 2023 season by Charles Huff to take over the Marshall offense, Doege merely responded by helping the Thunder Herd win 10 games, the program's first-ever Sun Belt Conference Championship and rank in the top 40 nationally with 32 points per game.

Seth will bring the Air Raid offense to ARIZONA and the majority of the Marshall (Sub Belt Champs) team is in the portal so he'll probably bring some of the offensive players with him.

I like his style

Bringing some of that Mike Leach (RIP) high powered offense. I love the hire!

I like this hire!
I hate that this hire is a year too late!

I think this signing should signal the end of Noah Fifita. If he doesn't depart, then his career will certainly not progress in Doege's play calling. Noah has no future if he is going to be forced to quick pass/checkdown/WR Screen all day dink and dunk.  Not much of a high powered aerial attack in this OC's playbook. The keyword will be YAC next season.

There must be something that hasn't been announced yet in the works like some sort of massive explosive RB coming. I don't see one on the roster currently. So I will wait to hear that we got some sort of 5'10" 215lb speed demon who can absorb contact and with superior hands for catches out of the backfield.

I will expect no less than a 2000 all purpose yard season from our featured back next year with this hire. Otherwise Noah is going to have to become a guy who can run for 600+ yards and take hits. This OC is used to a "stable" of RBs. So there has to be some smoke to this fire.

Doege was a surprisingly good runner. TTU had a diverse playbook while he was under center and I think it's ideal for Fifita because it allows him to spread out the ball quickly, without taking hits.

I still can't envision Noah staying but I'd be ecstatic if he made the announcement.

I don't think Noah should be in the market to be voluntarily taking hits. He isn't fast. He isn't big.

Doege doesn't seem like he is calling plays with "himself" in mind under center/in the shotgun. I think, from what I saw this past year from his squad, he has recognized that he can't put another man's career on the line that way and instead relied on a "stable of backs" along with his QB.

If he wanted to call plays that reflected his style of play then I don't think Noah is the guy for the job.

However, if he just wants to call plays for a somewhat mobile QB in terms of rollout ability and quick passes then it is possible Noah can do that. I just don't see the 3rd element which is necessary to pull it off which is QB running. If there is no threat of the QB taking off, then there is no "Doege".

When these hires happen they tend to get overhyped and overcriticized.

We won't know anything about what will happen until we see where the roster is.

Different isn't always better, but in this case you can't really get worse.

So for now, I am Long $DOEGE coin in the memetime, but once the roster materializes I will see if I shift to shorting.

Noah definitely wouldn't take hits under Doege's system.  TTU gets the ball out of the QB's hands quickly, although Seth was a sneaky-good runner in the rare instances that he was flushed out of the pocket.

Fifita is fast.  Unfortunately, he has been beat up with awful O-Line protection but he knows how to pick up first downs with his legs.

Again, I do not see Doege trying to turn any QB into "him". I think his coaching is different than his personal game play. If he doesn't have a QB that is willing to run, his system isn't going to be effective. I don't need any Air Raids nor Spread quick throw dink and dunk offenses. A QB that can get under center and hand the ball off is fine, hard play action into a roll out... fine....... but that only works if we have legitimate RBs. Where are we going to find legitimate RBs? I will wait to see who joins up because if Noah is going to be expected to rush for 500-800 yards in this system then he should be out of here.
