Arizona hires Brent Brennan of San Jose St as the Wildcats football head coach!

San Jose State coach Brent Brennan. The 50-year-old former Arizona grad assistant had his best season at San Jose State in 2020 when the Spartans went 7-1 and finished No. 24. Brennan stabilized the SJSU program and continues to impress at one of the toughest jobs in the FBS. The Spartans have had back-to-back winning seasons despite the additional new challenges that have come from the new era of the transfer portal. Brennan is well respected both among his peers and around Arizona.

Brennan has quietly strung together success at a difficult job, leading the Spartans to as many bowl games over the past four years as the preceding 25 years combined. After two rebuilding years to start his tenure, Brennan has gone 31-26 at San Jose State, including 23-16 in Mountain West play with two division titles. He has deep ties to the West Coast, including a stint as a graduate assistant at Arizona in 2000. With Chevan Cordeiro, Nick Starkel and Josh Love among them, Brennan has a strong track record of maximizing quarterbacks.

We now have to hope Nansen is brought back as the defensive coordinator or Mr Fifita is hired as an analyst or assistant coach.

Would Nanaen as DC have same impact as Nansen as HC?  Unfortunately, I'd say, no

So, he's built for the looming draconian budget cuts?

Arizona Football, sponsored by St. Mary's food Bank.

Well this marks the end of Noah, T Mac and just about everyone else. I can't see how any of those players would be interested in this hire. I said many times that Arizona should wait. They went with a guy who is like mentioned about "a draconian budget cut". Someone who seems like many steps backwards. I don't get it at all. For all the money they were about to throw at Jedd, the Ghouls lied to everyone just as much as Jedd lied.

There are so many HC's around with real power and real hype. Even NFL coaches that have been fired who could start over in a College setting and use their influence to work magic. I just don't see why any of you would put up with this nonsense.

There are also good College Coaches that would love to have a crack at Noah and the Servites that would chomp at the bits to be bought out and take over this current situation. Why won't the Ghouls make that happen?

You all must enjoy watching someone like Heeke stuff his pockets and laugh in your face.

Brennan is obviously a "player's coach" if he had to raise money so his guys could eat at SJSU. Similar to Fisch, he's walking into a turbulent situation in Tucson and hopefully he can maintain stability within the program.

Welcome to Arizona, Coach Brennan.

We'll see. Forgive me if I am going to take the position of the skeptic on this one. I knew who Fisch was before he got here. I don't know Brennan. So when I used to say Brother Jedd the Grifter I meant it, but I don't know what to expect right now. It all comes down to retaining the offense. Defense is not really a requirement in the Big12 the way Offense is. If we lose Noah and McMillan I will just check out and go back to examining when not if Tommy will rug pull us.
