Jedd Fisch told his players that he was staying at Arizona. He recently agreed to a new contract with Arizona, but nothing was signed. It's now being reported that Washington is pulling out all the stops to hire him away. All I can say is WOW...

KansasCityCats

Rumor is that UW would pay $9MM, as opposed to $4.2MM at Arizona.

I kinda shocked that the Huskies would put up that kind of money for Fisch. We can't realistically compete with another like that.

That is pocket change. I'm not sure if you are aware, but this is 2024. While it sounds like a lot, it's not.

Interesting - I gave Jedd his flowers. He earned it. However the first thing I said about "Brother Jedd" was he was a grifter. It can be found if searching far back enough.

Always came off as a grifter. This could be the saddest day in Arizona Football History. If Noah and McMillan leave then we are going to end up a Basketball school again sadly.

We were a Football School for all of about 6 weeks. Sad.

Can anyone see the Branch Servites staying? I can't.

KansasCityCats

That's Top-15 money. The ONLY 2023 PAC-12 coach that makes more is Lincoln Riley (even Lanning's salary is lower).

I cannot honestly blame this man. One contract fulfilled and he may never have to work again.  He did what was right by his family.
That said, we need to be quick and accurate.
Let's look at the two biggest options followed by the next two biggest options.
First is Carroll. Already on board. Continue with what has begun and finish the build.
Nansen because the same hold true with him.
Akina because the same with a twist.
Washington's OC.
IF Carroll goes to Washibgron, Washington's OC will be open for the job.
DC Mr Tedi B who is already sitting there.

Just acfew ifs, but there are other options. I would prefer to keep the current build going forward.

So did Nansen and Akina not take the Texas jobs then?

I can blame him. After 20+ years Arizona gives him the chance he worked hard for. He says thanks and thumbs his nose not only at those that gave him the chance, but at the fans and players that bought in. When loyalty is gone integrity follows. You can't be good family man or a builder of men by teaching that loyalty and integrity don't matter.

They did, but assistant don't sign those kind of locked in contracts

The players that follow Jedd will end up costing themselves a lot of money. Only so much NIL will go around as it is. Jedd would have needed to secure at least 20 to 25 Million in "outside funding" to be able to bring the players with him and also add the players UW is used to recruiting. At least from a talent caliber standpoint.

They were all set up perfectly in the Big12 the way this team was flowing. Probably Big12 Favorites and CFP Bound. Maybe if Everyone that made Arizona great this season came, UW could potentially crack into that "12 Team" farce of a CFP, but I think the Big10 will eat Noah alive. It's a whole different level of competition.

These kids have huge decisions to make. I believe whoever goes with Jedd will have draft stocks crashed, but I can't blame them for wanting to stick with the guy who got them relevant in the first place.

Fact is Jedd can care less about the kids and would love to get fired from this job in a couple years with the buyout he will be due. This was his golden parachute maneuver.

You all wonder why I call our AD and Highest Up's Ghouls... This is why. Bring in grifters, get what we deserved in the end. I won't be shocked if the Ghouls all retire and leave Arizona in shambles.

All around a very sad day for Arizona and a very sad last few weeks with Basketball considered.

We will have to wait and see how things pan out. It is always darkest before the dawn.

This obviously comes from a jaded fan, but it is still the truth.

Our administration has been pretty bad in recent history but taking a chance on Fisch paid off in the short term. Post Sumlin, Arizona was an embarrassment and we found a guy that turned us into a top-10 program.

We knew he wasn't dedicated she. He was hired. Just look at his resume; every stop lasts for 1-2 years.

Regardless, I hope he gave Arizona an opportunity to match his UW offer. I doubt we COULD pay him his new average salary but it would be reassuring to know that he didn't just "walk".
