A drop in the bucket. Those who think that Arizona's lack of success over that time was a product of Miller's coaching are just flat out wrong. It was a foregone conclusion and players were worrying about getting in and getting out. It was not the same recipe in the beginning where Miller led 2 different cores deep.

How many times did we have opportunities to win...until Miller called in-bound plays for Trier, Lyons, Momo or Stanley to walk in circles and run out the clock?  Last second coaching was disgraceful, in addition to the fact that opponents loved to play zone because we couldn't run an offense that attacked the paint.

Coaches doesn't pick on the Cats with a standard zone anymore and we won our "close" games last season. That's coaching.

Nice article by XU fans.  I love that they reference Dukie V and his neglect to follow the story closely.  He doesn't deserve to be considered part of the "media" because he can't even write in complete sentences.  The guy is only a fixture in college basketball because he yells the word "baby" and has FRIENDS that were actually SUCCESSFUL coaches.

Umm.. I think the lack of having players that could shoot 3s is what did Miller's teams in every season. Having 1 Gabe York or 1 Kyle Fogg was never enough to offset any zones. But Derrick Williams had a wide open 3 for the win vs Uconn. Other shots didn't go down in the clutch and on the other side Aaron Kraft hit his buzzer 3. You are severely underestimating the amount of unlucky moments this program has had thinking that it's a product of bad coaching more than the players (who were all different) missing their 1 shining moments. If it were the same player missing the same shots I would agree. But each game winning and losing situation had a different player taking the shot.

Last year Mamba Mathurin succeeded in his One Shining Moment vs TCU in the 2nd round. If he would have missed his 3pt shot then what does everyone say about Tommy Lloyd? Probably nothing the way he is automatically worshipped right now... but they will remember Mathurin missing the wide open shot.

No one was angry with Miller Year 2 when Derrick Williams missed that shot vs a 7 seeded UConn that went on to win the whole thing, but looking back 10 years later Miller is judged for not getting over the hump. However he coached to 3 Elite 8s with a chance to win all 3 and the players failed to make shots. Coaches catch blame over time because the players only typically get 1 shot. Back to Back years vs Wisconsin the same player didn't miss the same shot. And on the flipside Kaminsky went off one year, Dekker went off the other year. The Coach got to back to back Final 4s.. Wisconsin fans will always remember the names Kaminsky and Dekker I guarantee it.

We will see how long this lasts with Tommy. I already mentioned how egregious lob passes to the low post and cutting to the rim is suspect at best. Utah and Houston both destroyed it. The blueprint is out there. I said I am curious to see how Tommy will adapt when those passes aren't there going forward. If we aren't shooting well from 3 and those passes aren't there then we probably are going to get run out of the gym. We can all say that more often than not we will overcome it which is fine, but to win tournament basketball you can't have a "Utah or Houston" night. There needs to be a plan for when those issues arise and so far Tommy hasn't showed those cards. Hopefully he is working on it.

If Miller weren't recruiting selfish "elite prospects" that shot 3's at a low percentage (and he went after efficient international players), he may have won those games.

Although the players play the games, the coach finds the right guys for the job and Miller allowed Trier to lose the Xavier game by putting the ball in his hands without a game plan.

Whatever. Glad we have moved passed all the bullshit and the cloud above is gone. I feel bad for Book Richardson & Mark Phelps. Sure they fucked up but spending time in jail and ruining their careers is pretty rough while the same behavior is going on in other programs. I don't really get the hate for Miller.

Some of the Miller years were electric. From the very start with Derek Williams & MoMo to the many other groups such as Nick Johnson, TJ, Rondae, and Aaron Gordon era I really enjoyed this program. We won a lot and played some amazing ball. There were a few games that we choked or didn't have an answer (Frank Kaminski's goofy ass and Sam Dekker's godly performance still haunts me).

I am really excited for the program. The style of play we have is so much fun to watch especially moving from a defensive focus to offensive focus. I am loving the Tommy Lloyd era and am excited to see where he can take us. BTFD
