Gil isn't wrong at all. The administration destroyed the foundation that Lute Olson built and Sean Miller resurrected. Tommy Lloyd walked into a situation with 3 elite NBA ready players on the roster and a few others who are going to be drafted eventually - that all had cohesion and time to practice together after the pandemic restrictions were lifted. You can all say what you want about me, but we never got to see that team play in the Big Dance under Miller and they were poised to make a 2nd weekend run at whatever seed they were getting. The administration made sure that they couldn't so that there was no more accolades for Miller to gain.

Fast forward - Now we all get to see what Tommy Lloyd can do without the bulk of the Elite NBA Talent that Miller went out and found before he got there. We all get to evaluate what he does with mostly "his guys" besides Kerr and Zoo Tube both of which Miller brought in and will be focused on as star players. The system excuse in not valid until Lloyd has 5 seasons of running it where there are no traces of any of the old way. So while I think there is a ton of good reason to believe Arizona can continue playing at a high level, I am not absolutely certain this is a #1 ranked ceiling type team like it was last year. Let the results do the talking. I personally will not be comfortable nor happy settling for a #12 ranked Arizona basketball team. I have standards. Pac12 Conference Title and Pac12 Tournament Title are minimum requirements for me. If Lloyd's system is the catalyst then he should be able to plug and play with the plethora of talent this team has and keep Arizona inside of the Top 5 all season once the always overly bogus preseason rankings fade.

Arenas let his personal emotion run wild and he has absolutely nowhere to go now, unless it's with his tail between his legs.

Fact: Tommy Lloyd won the AP Coach of the Year last season.

Did the administration mishandle the process of the coaching changes in Arizona's major sports?  Absolutely.  But they chose the right guy to represent our Men's Basketball program.  A #1 seed in the tournament was NOWHERE on our radar when the season began...especially when Miller was still considered our coach.

100% of what you just wrote about choosing the right guy is 100% in hindsight. 100% of what you wrote about a #1 seed is an opinion, not a fact.

I can listen to someone's opinion/take, but I draw the line if you fully believe any of that is 100% a fact.

Everyone keeps saying The Bulk of NBA talent..Mathurin for sure, but Koloko and Terry were building blocks. Does anyone really think they would have been drafted if Miller was their coach? And Arenas...open mouth insert foot.  He is back stepping because no one can say that Lloyd did any wrong.

Wow, he sounds like a lot of people these days!

Sometimes emotions get the best of us?

Just saying!

I know this thread was old but Yahoo wrote a nice article relating to the Arizona alumni that are now happy with the Lloyd hire.  Hopefully Tommy can recruit the young Arenas to keep the talent within the family.
