Title: What happened to that "OTHER SITE" PGU?
Post by: ollieboy5150 on May 15, 2017, 08:31:53 PM
So very happy and thankful this site is available. Was hoping someone would pick up when PGU went off-line and Wildcatazfan is doin it!  New style and fresh perspective.
After several years of a love\hate relationship with PGU, I'm curious as to what finally drove Ace to end it? Anyone have any knowledge?

One thing that is for sure is that he is not dead, despite of the fact that there was a RIP tweet from their twitter page. I'll let everyone put any rumors on here and then I'll let people know what I know.

my theory is that the staff/program had something to with it. i think they were tired of ace saying things and giving the program a bad look.

Here is some good proof I was able to dig up on ACE/PGU regarding what really happened to PGU & if Ace is really dead.  You need to be a member to read this.  Click the register button above

[hide login=1]https://twitter.com/Blaxabbath/status/833391756842459136

He's not dead - he tweeted the RIP image then tweeted what you see above after the RIP image & deleted the tweets.  Ace missed on Damion Lee, Lonnie Walker, & didn't really see Ayton's commitment coming(I told him he was going to commit & he banned me). People had been complaining that Ace deleted some paid accounts with months of access remaining. In the end Ace wasn't posting much inside info.  When he did it was on twitter the same day.  He did however have info on Trier & that information about Trier is what caused Miller to tighten the ship. I was told that PGU was then ordered to shut down the week in which Greg Byrne left, which is why the site was shut down so abruptly Mid season. So, ACE then came up with the whole RIP deal to keep people from finding out what really happened & throw people off.

Very interesting. Ace played the Trier issue in a cagy way for months as though he wanted to let us know he knew more than he was telling. Are you saying Miller kept him from releasing all the info? It seems as if PGU was a surrogate of UA basketball. True? If so, that accounts for all the accurate inside info Ace had over the years and why he was so cocky about it.  Thanks for your thoughts.

He also said Bowen was going to commit one weekend and that Trier would never come back for his Junior year.  PGU became a very mean spirited site run by a very narcissistic/delusional person.  Hope this forum can be unlike PGU's in the sense that little cliques don't troll every post or question made by people they don't know! Glad to see someone has taken an initiative to get a University of Arizona sports forum, with recruiting info, going again!!

We want this to be a fan friendly Arizona Wildcats Community and will do our best to stop any trolling,  belittling, or just plain hate against fellow Wildcat fans. Thank you for joining & it's only the off-season,  so just imagine how much better we can all make this place by the time the season starts. BEARDOWN!

Which brings us to the next point Wildcatazfan, who is next to commit?  ACE is old news today and I wish him well.  One can only hope that he finds some kind of peace in his life.  I just did not understand why he would belittle his fans and go on a tirade on his way out.  Never the less, Good luck ACE.

I certainly don't have any additional info on ACE from what I shared, now hidden, on the PGU Down post on Global Gizmo Watch Party. That's how I knew of PPU, as Wildcatazfan posted a comment about this site. Took me awhile to get in, but once I did, it felt like home compared to the other group that we could say are a lot of the trouble makers from PGU. I'm a member there as well, but have felt excluded from that group. So I brought my talents here to help give a nice edge with the live streaming pages during this off-season. :D

First of all I'd like to thank Wildcatazfan for the site & Gizmocatduck for all he's done & is doing with the streams.

This is definitely a fan friendly community & people are now starting to find out about this site.  If the ACE followers do end up coming over to this site & start causing hate and discontent then I & the other moderators will do our best to remove any negative posts or chat text. Of course they are welcome to come here as long as they change their ways.  We don't need any bashing, belittling, harassing, etc.  I know Wildcatazfan is still looking for a few good moderators as to cover all of the different time zones.  If you're interested send him a message. We also need certain people that can be a part of this site as a moderator that can help bring the content as in keeping an eye out for the latest news or articles and posting it right away.  We've got a good core group of people here & the football season is still over a month away. When the basketball season starts I believe their will be a mad rush of fan coming into and joining this site. We can all help with that by spreading the word to the other wildcat fans on twitter, facebook, or by word of mouth. BEARDOWN!

Really appreciate you putting this site together and already for some of the insider content that I would have most likely missed online.

Not all ACE "followers" caused hate and discontent.
It is unfair to group all of them/us in the same boat when we were all there for the same reasons, our love for Arizona basketball.

This site reminds me of the early days of PGU.  It already has a nice community & definitely has the most potential of any other Wildcat forum out there.

I have been looking for a site about U of A basketball. So glad to discover this site.  Thanks for providing us with a special place to chat and learn about our beloved CATS!!!!

UofA97 .... Wildcatazfan is the "headmaster", there are a few other moderators, and I've been the one providing the streaming to help set this site apart from all the rest.

Hawaii wildcat.... glad to know you found us, and are able to enjoy the site, all about the Cats, with references to the other teams out there as the sport seasons take place. ;)

DWIZZ.... I wasn't apart of the "early days" of PGU, but the last couple of years or so. So I'm glad you recognize its potential.

To everyone else, enjoy and share when and where needed.

Sadly, it took Tuesday's release to increase visitors and some have since become members. But please don't let that stop you from rallying around the rest of the athletics and students (men AND women) in support of your beloved Wildcats.

Bear Down!

To Wildcatazfan, GizmoCatDuck, and any others who have started, organized, and set up this site...Thank You Very Much.  I've felt so lost since PGU went down.  I never really realized how much it meant to me to discuss UofA Wildcat Basketball, the games, the players, etc., with other fans until PGU shut down.  I googled for a Wildcat Basketball fan site many times, but never saw this one.  Then my friend, Isq Da Apache emailed me about this site.  It looks real good and I have no doubts about it getting better.  Again, thanks for building this site.

You're most welcome for the service of this site to support your needs.

So if I read you correctly, this site wasn't popping up on your Google search radar? Interesting. I wonder what could be done to help it along? The style is old, but works well. I know the creators of this forum software have put in some good features to help keep SPAM users at bay, but maybe a bit too much for the needs here. ;)

Which could be why my site isn't as popular, expect seen in TraceMyIP by links from my "old" sites if a new viewer, and word of mouth like you had through email, and various social media sites.

Amongst many things to improve the Quality of Service, that will have to be investigated by any number of us that has the gumption to look for a possible solution and share it.

I had been on PGU for about seven years I believe.  I always felt that it was quite cliquey.

With the start of this season I was itching for a new forum and I found this site.  I hope that it will be a fun and informative environment!

So noted by Erik, @StatFreak101 on Twitter as I PM'd with him that he had seen a post in the last week or so, but it was gone before he could take a look.

I dunno - but I really think you might consider letting this go.  PGU doesn't exist - yet this is a constant reminder.  IMO you should have a 'burial' ceremony, take down the thread and move forward

I say leave the 2 PGU posts right where they're at. As former PGU members find this post they will be able to read through and add to it. I do agree that eventually it should be removed as a sticky, but old PGUers are finding this site everyday and see wondering what happened to PGU.

Being a former PGU member I did read this thread. It's entertaining but not really the top pinned welcome post I associate with the general good nature of the community here. There were a lot of good fans and discussions on the previous site and it's nice to see some familiar names find their way here.

What about pinning a welcome post with some background at the top and letting this one drop. Maybe a link in the welcome thread so the former pgu crowd could still find and post on it with any feedback or updates.

While i mostly enjoyed PGU and it's why I am here, I just don't see the need to pin an Ace thread at the top of a Wildcat Basketball forum.

Exactly my point.  It's like going to a Toyota  dealer and have a sales rep run out and thrashing Honda with about talking about the value of Toyota first.

Good call guys. I made the welcome tutorial which should be near the top and included the 2 threads on PGU at the bottom of that thread. The PGU posts are now non sticky. I appreciate everyone's feedback on this site.

Thought I'd bring this thread back in honor of PGU going down about a year ago and with everything going on. Everyone who missed this should read from the first post on. It's got some good stuff. All I can say is, Thank goodness PPU is here now.
