Good coach and a big loss, but he made several critical mistakes and we could have still been playing later in the week. Both losses had some critical mistakes with pitcher rotation.

I'll miss Johnson because he's a player's coach. Kids love him and he loves baseball.

Our program has been a rollercoaster since he arrived. We either make the CWS...or miss the postseason altogether.

I'd rather have a coach with some consistency and look forward to yet ANOTHER coaching change within our athletics department.

LSU is LSU?  I have a nephew that played there, so I've followed them bit, but the Wildcats have been to as many CWS's as LSU.  LSU has won it 6 times to our 4.  Sounds reasonably even to me.  LSU might be able to offer more money, but that seems to be all.  I told my buddy, the LSU fan, how much success I wish for his program under this deserter. I hope I didn't lose a friend.  :)

KansasCityCats

Agreed. The history of the programs likely didn't sway Johnson one way or another.

LSU offered double his current salary. Also, their affiliations/partnerships with baseball camps and equipment companies put them at a recruiting advantage (which JJ didn't need in a beautiful baseball town of Tucson).

Hope we hire the right replacement. Plenty of decent candidates still out there.

Any truth to Jacob Berry transferring?  His dad played ball at Louisiana Lafayette

KansasCityCats

Hopefully not.  It wouldn't make sense for him to jump with just one year of eligibility remaining.  He already received All-Conference accolades and will likely get drafted with a majority of the scouts focusing on him and Susac next season.  Fingers crossed that he hangs around & waits to see which coach takes over.

Looks like my sources were pretty spot on with the berry transfer
