Growing pains.

First drive. KT staying with the game plan did not run when he had some openings. That held true throughout the night. After a holding penalty made it 1st and 20, we had an opportunity to score anyway. On third down and about 10 KT three through the end zone when he had a clearly wide open Ellison for a clear first down. Missed opportunity that was again repeated several time throughout the night.
Then we missed a fg.

Missed open receivers, dropped passed, poor decisions, were just some of the mental lapses we had in line with the very poor half time adjustments. KT is transitioning to a more rounded QB. It will take a few games. Combine that with the OL issues and there you have it. Now if we had had an NAu on schedule we may have over come it all and be one and zero. Remember all the complaints about playing them? Careful what you ask for.

The Cats just played an all-around awful game.  Between the dropped passes, missed tackles and shanked FG...I'm optimistic that the Cats will recover and rebound well in Houston.

I know Mazzonne wants Tate to be a "pass first" QB...but he needs to run when there's an obvious gap in the defense.

Schooler, Fields, Ellison and Taylor all played fairly well.  If the O-Line can give Tate some time to make checks downfield, our offense will start to click.

I really hope mazzone is not trying to do that. I can tell you now, if that is exactly what mazzone is doing, We are going to have a massively failed season. Any success tate had throwing last season was purely a product of his legs creating that opportunity either by proxy of the threat of the run or him actually scrambling to create.

Agreed.  I don't mind if they make him a "pass first QB"...but they need to utilize his legs and force opponents to keep 1-2 spies in the box at all times.

Tate shouldn't risk injury & run 20 times per game, but he could have put up 50+ yards on Saturday...easily.
