Arizona Vs asu 🏈 Game Preview/Discussion Thread 11/28/25 7pm FOX

This Friday, the long-standing rivalry between the Arizona Wildcats and the Arizona State Sun Devils takes on added significance. Arizona enters at 8–3 with one of the nation's top pass defenses, allowing just around 160 yards per game through the air, while also scoring over 33 points per contest behind quarterback Noah Fifita's 2,600-plus passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Arizona head coach Brent Brennan acknowledged the magnitude of the moment earlier this week, saying, "I think it's one of the best rivalries in college football... you want these games to have a big impact." The Wildcats also hold a lead in the all-time series, 51-45-1, adding another layer to a matchup already known for its intensity.

Arizona State enters the rivalry game with an identical 8–3 record and a strong 6–2 mark in conference play. The Sun Devils' identity has centered on their run game, which is producing nearly 200 rushing yards per outing despite losing starting quarterback Sam Leavitt to a season-ending foot injury. Before going down, Leavitt had thrown for more than 1,600 yards with 10 touchdowns and just three interceptions, helping ASU stay firmly in the Big 12 race.  With both teams fighting for bragging rights, momentum, and postseason positioning, Friday night's Territorial Cup showdown in Tempe promises to be one of the most compelling chapters in the rivalry's history.

Let talk about the Wildcats Vs Sun Devils.

While I like the picture, I have concerns that we will not show up with the mentality to put them away 84-0

ASU is just a bad matchup for us. Their strengths are our weaknesses. They are 2nd in pass rush and we are 14 in protecting the QB. Can we run? Well, asu is at the top in run defense as well. On defense, what's our weakness?  Defending the run and especially a running QB. That's also ASU's strength.

These refs are fucking garbage.

Never blew the whistle for forward progress inside assu's 10 yard line, didn't acknowledge the blatant offsides when the FG was blocked...then ignored an intentional grounding call when the pass wasn't within 10 yards of a receiver.

Flip those and Arizona would be winning by more than 3 scores down the stretch.

You were right on that we couldn't protect Fifita. Their pass rush was overwhelming for our O-line.

Fortunately, the staff adjusted and threw quick underneath routes that slowly marched the offense downfield.

Our defense was stellar. Everybody played with emotion...but not out of control, which is easy to do in a rivalry game.

Again, if the stupid refs didn't swallow their whistles during big moments, this would have been a blowout.

9-3. Props to the staff...and guys like Fifita/Johnson for sticking around through the tough times.

This is the correct way to analyze

Though Noah had a bad game and Special Teams are terrible,

We still had enough to shut down a dude who bet on the Wildcats
