Arizona rolls over Utah Tech 93-67

The Arizona Wildcats overcame a slow start on Friday night, defeating the Utah Tech Trailblazers 93–67 at McKale Center to move to 2–0 on the young season. Arizona shot 57.1% on the night from and 36% from three-point range. The Wildcats controlled the paint with a 58–24 scoring advantage and outrebounded the Trailblazers 45–24, including 14 offensive boards. Freshman standouts Koa Peat and Brayden Burries each tallied 18 points, with Peat connecting on 6-of-7 shots and Burries adding four steals. Forward Tobe Awaka dominated the glass with a career-high 18 rebounds to go with 12 points in just 19 minutes of action. Transfer guard Anthony Dell'Orso provided a major boost off the bench, contributing 18 points and four assists while helping Arizona's reserves outscore Utah Tech's bench 48–15.

Head coach Tommy Lloyd praised his team's depth and resilience after a slow start, saying, "I love that we were challenged — you've got to be able to ride the wave a little bit and make adjustments." Burries, one of the Wildcats' key young contributors, noted his confidence is growing with experience: "My teammates and coaches have my back as I try to learn how to lead." Dell'Orso echoed that team-first mentality, adding, "It doesn't matter who starts — it's about bringing full effort for the team." The Wildcats forced 14 turnovers and turned them into 26 fast-break points, displaying the tempo and defensive energy Lloyd has emphasized. With multiple players scoring in double figures and the bench continuing to shine, Arizona's depth and athleticism appear to be early-season strengths as they prepare for a tougher slate ahead.

Definitely a sloppy game for the Cats. We were out hustled but still comfortably won by 26.

Props to Utah Tech. They really scrapped for rebounds and loose balls. Some questionable calls out them at the FT line early (only ONE FG made by the visitors within the first 9-10 minutes).
