Brandon Smith 3🌟 2026 RB has committed to Arizona!

Brandon Smith, a dynamic three-star running back from Central East High School in Fresno, California, announced his commitment to the Arizona Wildcats for the 2026 recruiting class on June 29, 2025, choosing Arizona over the Cal Golden Bears and other notable programs like Utah, Boise State, and San Diego State. The 6-foot, 190-pound athlete showcased his versatility as a junior, rushing for 1,871 yards on 277 carries with 25 touchdowns, while also contributing 354 receiving yards on 31 catches with two scores. Defensively, he recorded 71 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble, earning him a ranking as the No. 24 running back nationally and No. 41 overall prospect in California by 247Sports. His speed and shiftiness, complemented by his track background where he anchored a 4x400 meter relay team to a second-place finish at the California state championships, make him a formidable weapon for Arizona's backfield.

Smith's commitment, celebrated on Instagram Live, adds a "Swiss army knife" talent to Arizona's roster, as noted by X posts, with over 2,200 total yards and 27 touchdowns from scrimmage in his junior season alone. Reflecting on his decision, Smith shared his excitement, stating, "I'm home! Beardown ," in a post on X, signaling his enthusiasm for joining the Wildcats. His choice was influenced by an official visit to Tucson, where he felt a strong connection to the program. "Arizona just felt like the right fit for me," Smith told 247Sports, emphasizing the coaching staff's vision for his role as a dynamic running back. As the lone running back commit in Arizona's 2026 class, which includes 16 prospects like four-star quarterback Oscar Rios, Smith's addition bolsters an already promising recruiting haul for the Wildcats

At what point should we be worried that the majority of our recruits were down to Mountain West schools and Arizona at the end? Shouldn't we be competing with peer institutions on recruits?

Arizona football has rarely witnessed a staff compete with the power schools for major recruits.

RichRod, Tomey and Stoops were pretty good at finding the under-recruited kids and making them NFL prospects.
