Arizona Vs Louisville ⚾ Sunday the June 15th at 11am ESPN (Game 2)

The Arizona Wildcats (44-20) face the Louisville Cardinals (40-23) in a high-stakes College World Series elimination game on June 15, 2025, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. In Game 1, Coastal Carolina's Blake Barthol went 3-for-5 with two doubles, including a crucial two-run double in the eighth, while Arizona's Adonys Guzman led with three hits. Arizona's pitching faltered late, allowing four runs in the final three innings, and their bullpen, including NCBWA Stopper of the Year Tony Pluta, must tighten up against Coastal's offense, which has a nation-leading 170 hit-by-pitches this season.

Both teams are coming off opening-round losses, with Arizona falling 7-4 to Coastal Carolina and Louisville suffering a 4-3 walk-off defeat to Oregon State. Freshman pitchers take the mound for this crucial matchup: Arizona's Smith Bailey (3-3, 4.01 ERA), who impressed in the Super Regional, against Louisville's Ethan Eberle (6-2, 4.34 ERA), a key rotation piece. Arizona's potent lineup, led by Adonys Guzman and Brendan Summerhill, looks to capitalize on Louisville's bullpen vulnerabilities, while the Cardinals aim to spark their offense early after a late rally fell short in their opener. With Arizona holding a 68.5% win probability and a prior 13-1 loss to Louisville in February, expect a competitive, high-scoring battle as both teams fight to keep their seasons alive.

Ole Chipper just couldn't deploy Pluta in Game 1 vs Coastal. Then he mismanages this game. It is crazy how these guys have iron thrones.

KansasCityCats

He earned a conference championship, he's the (arguably) best team in their house for the Supers and qualified for Omaha.

Both 8th innings were mismanaged but Hale will be around until Arizona isn't a top tier program.

Seen it all before. Leaving your best arms on the bench until it is too late. You always go with your best in these scenarios not your analytics.

Go Louisville. They earned it. Now they get a crack at Coastal who we had on the ropes as well and we should have been in their position right now leading the group.

Hale will be the Manager until he decides to leave. The fact is, he hasn't produced much lately. He is the Lute Olson of Arizona Baseball now. It is an Iron Throne whether he performs or not.

KansasCityCats

Lute built a legacy from scratch. Hale is a legend at Arizona and made a wonderful name for himself within the world of baseball but he isn't untouchable. Hopefully, the momentum continues and the Cats win a few more conference titles, in addition to Omaha trips.
