I assume that UNLV and UNM will soon follow. Not sure if there are many other reasonable options but we'll see if they can become a major conference by adding a few other schools (not sure who could qualify academically with a strong enough football program in a major market).

The PAC survives another day!

Yea, UNLV seems a no brainer.
New Mexico is not a bad one.

Could be looking at Texas State as well though to get into that Texas market.

True.  UTSA, Rice, UTEP, South Dakota State and possibly Louisiana Tech are the "eastern" teams that stand out in my mind.  Texas State has a small (dangerous) campus without a big following so I envision Rice as the leader, if they want to capture the Houston market.

The North Texas market on the north side of the Dallas area.
UTSA for San Antonio.
Rice in Houston.
Texas State is in between Austin and San Antonio, but an up and coming program.
Others could include Tulane, Tulsa, Memphis. All for obvious reasons. The Texas market is the "Big" one if they really want to ever be part of the bigger picture. Not saying P4/P5 level.

I am just happy it is still breathing and we are not in it.

Those are also solid additions that would likely commit without thinking twice.

With Boise, Fresno, SDSU, Colorado St additions, the conference needs two more.
After thinking about it, the two most obvious would be to lure Cal and Stanford back to the PAC. That would give them a real PAC.
As I said earlier though, Texas is the place they have to land.
That said: I think that the schools mentioned would be good with UTSA being likely the best option. However there is a better option ripe for the picking. That school is SMU! The ACC is screwed either way. Someone is leaving! It will come apart!
An addition of UTSA and SMU would plant them solidly in the Texas markets. Cal and Stanford would be smart as well. UNLV would not be a bad option.
IF they wanted to target beyond that, certainly Memphis and Tulane would be solid additions which expand the footprint. The big thing would be for the conference to be a step up from the AAC!

We should bail on the BIG 12 :-) JK.  Solid post as always LG
