Arizona Vs Northern Arizona 🏈 Game Preview/Discussion Thread 9/7/24 7pm ESPN+

The Arizona Wildcats host the Northern Arizona Wildcats for the second game of the season at Arizona Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST, and ESPN+ will have the broadcast with Chris Sylvester (PxP), Brad Hopkins (Analyst), and Shane Sparks (Reporter) on the call.

In their first matchup of 2024 versus Lincoln, the Lumberjacks demolished the Oaklanders with 45 first-half points in a 66-6 blowout. Ty Pennington threw for 116 yards and a score. BJ Fleming was the top receiver on 98 yards and a touchdown off three catches.

Matched up against New Mexico on Saturday, Arizona scored double-digit points in every quarter during a 61-39 victory. Noah Fifita posted 422 pass yards and four scores. Tetairoa McMillan set the school record with 304 yards receiving and tied another with four touchdown catches. Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Quali Conley combined for 23 carries, 196 yards, and four rushing touchdowns.

Arizona owns a 16-2 record all-time against Northern Arizona dating back to the first meeting on Nov. 7, 1931. The Wildcats won the most recent meeting 38-3 on Sep. 2, 2023.

Arizona has won eight straight games dating back to last season, the second-longest active win streak in the nation. If Michigan loses to Texas a -7.5 favorite and the CATS win, they will have the longest active winning streak.

Arizona is favored at -44.5 and the Over/Under is 63.5

Let's talk about the Wildcats Vs Lumberjacks!

Hopefully this game won't take 4+ hours like the NM game did due to the inept big12 officiating crew.

Pretty ugly offensive output.  I guess it's ideal to get the sloppy game out of the way, when we're playing the FCS opponent.

Fortunately, our defensive was stellar.  NAU was a combined 4 of 14 on 3rd/4th downs, didn't hit 200 total yards of offense, only had 4.4 YPA in the air and 2.9 YPA on the ground.

Outside of Giddens' 51 yard rush against Tulane, K-State's rushing game was pretty weak against an undersized Tulane defense.  I think Friday's outcome depends on whether we can contain Avery Johnson from making big passes downfield.  Our offense will be playing "angry"...
