The Arizona Wildcats and the California Golden Bears meet Friday in college basketball action from Haas Pavilion. Arizona enters this one at 9-2 overall in the Pac-12 standings. The Wildcats took their second loss to Florida Atlantic last weekend. As for California, they're coming off a win over UC San Diego that improved the Bears to 4-7 on the year.

BDU's Free Pick
The Cal Golden Bears will be up for this game at home, and they've been battle tested, so there's no excuse for them here. With that said, the Arizona Wildcats have been a powerhouse through 11 games, and they're also 9-2 ATS on the season. No matter what you think of Cal, Arizona just isn't a team anyone would want to face, especially after a loss. Give me Arizona to cash another ticket!

This team has shown some signs of life. I think Tommy let them get complacent tonight. Shouldn't be getting into it with scabs like Cal.

Tommy needs to seriously consider a change to the starting lineup:

Bradley
Love
Pelle
Keshad
Ballo

Boswell (benched for 1 game for playing like a beta and not showing hunger)
KJ Lewis (I feel gunning for Pelle's minutes + should push Pelle back to 6th man)
Krivas (Needs Ballo's minutes soon. He should be working on nothing but FT's for 80% of practice. We will need at least 1 Big to be able to hit around 70% FTs)

Side Note: I have no idea what Tommy is thinking not allowing Borovician to play. Since Henri is no where to be seen for whatever reason, I think Tommy is making a colossal mistake not having a guy who can stretch the floor available who is tall enough to make a difference if something were to happen to Keshad in-game like foul trouble. Tommy again as always has tunnel vision and a very limited plan. Each year we saw Kerr get hurt in the Pac12 Tournament and no one was "ready" to play AKA Tommy refused to let anyone on the bench even try. No one could do worse than what this team did last season vs Princeton and Tommy chose to fully go down with his ship as he lost the locker room with this mentality.

Boro can hit some FTs and stop the Hack-A-Shaq Ballo tactic.

Fili B is a legit, well-rounded ball player. I am also not a fan of seeing his opportunities being this limited.

Also allowed over 50 points in the 2nd half. We have an identity under Tommy of playing well in the 1st half then quitting in the 2nd half / being gamed on. Which means in good games or closer games, teams don't go away and we end up in a dicey situation or run out of the gym.

Some of you may remember the term as I said it all last season. Tommy is like a football coach with the first 15 plays scripted then has no plan after that. He just expects us to come out and put up a 100-120ppg pace in the first 10 minutes and our opponent to automatically be so shook and rattled that they just go away. However, good teams will weather our storm.

Tighten up the defense Tommy or BENCH players who are not showing interest.

KansasCityCats

You nailed it. Arizona is an awful second half team. In "fact", the Cats scored less points in the second half of games in TWO of their first TEN games...

All last season they were run out of the gym by teams in the 2nd half. It is a Tommy thing. Confirmed. This is a different thing and the mentality is still to let up. Doesn't matter if it's 2 games. If you put up 50 in the 1st half and hold a team to 25 or so, you are expected to play defense in the 2nd half too.

Bad Habits.

Breeding Bad Habits. That is not debatable.
