Arizona Vs TCU 🏀 Game Preview/Discussion Thread 1/10/26 at 2pm ESPN

Arizona enters this matchup as the nation's top-ranked team, boasting a perfect 15-0 overall record and 2-0 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats most recently rolled past Kansas State 101-76, with Brayden Burries leading Arizona offensively and Motiejus Krivas posting one of his best games of the season. Arizona's offense has been efficient and balanced, ranking in the top 10 nationally in scoring and rebounding, while their plus-15.1 rebound margin is among the elite in college basketball.
With multiple double-figure scorers and strength inside, Arizona will look to extend their undefeated run as they hit the road to face the Horned Frogs.

TCU comes into this contest at 11-4 and 1-1 in Big 12 competition, aiming to disrupt Arizona's perfect start. The Horned Frogs have had ups and downs early in league play but remain a solid squad capable of competing with top teams. While TCU doesn't carry the same national championship expectations as Arizona this season, last year's matchup saw Arizona win 90-81 in Tucson, highlighting that TCU can hang with the Wildcats when executing on both ends of the floor.
Key contributors such as David Punch and Vasean Allette will need big performances as the Frogs strive to control tempo and limit Arizona's rebounding advantage.

Historically, this series has grown competitive, with the all-time men's series tied at 2-2, and Arizona capturing the last two meetings before this game.
TCU's home floor, Schollmaier Arena, adds another layer of challenge for the Wildcats, who will be tested in hostile territory. If TCU can tighten its defense and convert on key opportunities, they have the potential to slow Arizona's high-powered offense. Conversely, Arizona's depth and efficient scoring give them the edge and make them tough to beat anywhere, particularly in Big 12 play where every game has NCAA Tournament implications.

Let's talk about the Wildcats Vs Horned Frogs!

Tommy finally listens and coaches up the team to care about first half defense. Allowing 27 points was crucial as it helped us survive the game where we were outplayed and overmatched in the 2nd half by TCU who outscored us with ease and got our players into some conundrums.

We were able to weather the storm that got under 10 points a couple of times I think or 9 to 12 points.

This is what I was talking about. We will face teams that won't quit and if our only real response is going to be "you score, so we will come back and score until you finally miss shots", then we need to get a notable lead in the 1st Half. Not just a 15+ point lead, but a lead that makes a team lose some belief. Scoring only 27 while seeing us play with our food, missing a bunch of easy FTs within the flow is how you survive these big comeback campaigns.

Tommy is notorious for not calling timeouts until we lose the momentum, so it is always going to be a little bit tricky and worrisome that a team is creeping back into the game on us.

Good thing we just let TCU take their wide open shots and they actually missed them. Tommy rolls the dice and it works out this time. Always better to see what happened with a win attached to it as a coaching point, than to lose the game and have morale destroyed.

Can't let up vs anyone. Whether it is ASU, West Virginia, Cincinnati, UCF... doesn't matter. Those are the ones we need to play even stronger in ultimately.
