This was the most points scored by a visiting team at McKale Center since 2009, when BYU beat Arizona 99-69.

Quote from: KansasCityCats on February 23, 2025, 05:54:54 AMLast night, our opponent's style was also our style. We naturally play an uptempo offense that attempts to rush shots from our opponents.

Regardless of whether you think Padilla won games for Arizona in the past, he clearly gave one away on a phantom call, which was blatantly advertised by the commentators last night. It was a lazy whistle.

If playing 96-95 games is out style then it is the wrong style. We played BYU's game last night.

We proved again that we can "hang with anyone".

However, where was your "gritty tough nosed defense" that was displayed over the last couple games? That was the new team identity and scheme that came out of our latest win streak. So now we are back to just blind run and gun with no compunction for caring about defense?

I don't buy it. Unless you say the words "we are lipstick on a pig". Then I will buy it. Because that was the new look of the team up until yesterday.

It can also easily be argued that Love didn't deserve a foul call on the other end in "winning time" which some people believed was an "And-1".. and he would have just had the game tying layup, which would have potentially even changed how BYU approached the last shot ---- because it was more than obvious there was going to be a Tit For Tat Make Up Call. At least anyone with a pulse for the game should have expected a drive to the rim and an attempt to draw a whistle. 1 begets the other. Whether it is right or wrong that is mostly how Basketball works more than any other sport.

BYU's Coach understood it. Someone posted Fran Fraschilla's Tweet about how the player was "Astute". Well, give the player credit. He and his coach knew the assignment. They took the temperature of the room.

What you are trying to say is way too hypocritical for me.

Go back to the Eagles vs KC 1st Superbowl when the Refs closed out the game on a bogus flag where there was no room for a "rebuttal flag". I watched that game. I know that the Eagles (Jalen Hurts) inexplicably Fumble 6'ed all the momentum away early enough when they were on their way to blowing KC out and let the door open toward Halftime.

In the end, this serves as absolute truth that 1 play or call doesn't win or lose the whole game.

Tommy had all game to stop what BYU was doing with adjustments.

All game BYU was sending in Offense for Defense subs. In and Out, In and Out, In and Out.

BYU's Coach had a true plan and executed it. We only turned up the heat on BYU at the way way way end when Tommy could have called for the pressure earlier in the game.

Tommy just let the game become a pissing contest and we got pissed on in the end.

I accept the loss. This team is starting to get a very bad reputation of shit talking and now we aren't backing it up anymore. So when frustration boils over, don't be surprised to see us get hammered in a 20pt loss when the chips are down.

These are big moments. Either Tommy can get control back and get the team to play defense or we will not reach any type of potential this group is capable of.

It's hard to adjust when players that strictly hit threes attack the basket and make acrobatic layups over larger defenders.

Credit is definitely due to the Cougars. Their offense was versatile and stellar.
