While I realize many of you have dranken the Brent Brennan Kool-Aid, I have just witnessed one of the worst executed gameplan's since the early days of Brother Jedd.

There is absolutely no excuse to by MOLLY-WOPPED like this.

I understand just about every flag that could be thrown against us was thrown. I understand that momentum was crushed many times over. However, the momentum was snatched back multiple times by our Defense and the Offense had absolutely no idea what to do vs a relatively MID KSU Defense. I don't care what they rank in. Fifita had a terrible game.

Terrible throws by Fifita can be overcome, but we have a much better Offensive line than we showed tonight. That is a product of terrible play calling and coaching. You would have thought Fifita was facing the 2000 Ravens the way they were able to shut us down.

I feel SORRY for T-Mac. He doesn't deserve this. There was no excuse to blow the game on poor choices and lack of execution. When he goes Pro I can only hope it is to a team that is Legitimately good, but had a terrible injury plagued season and ended up in the #10 range where they could move up and get T-Mac in the Top 5.

This was the least inspired game I've watched in a long time. No grit. No fortitude. All of the momentum this program had is gone and must be rebuilt from the ground up. Call this an overreaction if you want, but it isn't. Utah and BYU have no business losing to us the way we are this 1 dimensional. We are actually back to the level of Colorado. Peasant level.

I understand we weren't going to continue winning forever, but to lose in this manner is embarrassing. This was a team that looked like they were happy with their "gamedau paychecks" and just wanted to get in and get out so they could go into a Bye Week and chill out.

I disrespect the performance. Brent Brennan is Chief to blame. He no longer garners wearing the necklace. He is no "cool cat". He is a joke right now.

Huddling up with 6 minutes left down 4 scores is unacceptable. Definitely a product of gambling in some capacity. Either play the game respectfully or take the entire 1st unit out on both sides if that's how you are going to act. Pathetic.

They did not even attempt to run the ball properly. They didn't attempt to use TE's in the wide open seams. If it wasn't to T-Mac it was a broken play. That is flawed.

They avoided every possible avenue of success tonight as soon as Fifita threw the terrible ball that got intercepted early on. We had 1 nice early drive and then let the refs unravel us? No I don't accept that. This was "Quitting" at it's finest.

If this is what we truly are culturally, then we are looking at possibly a 6 Win or Less season. I posted on the Bowl Team thread wondering how we could even be wondering if we were a Bowl team. Now I am completely shifting my opinion. We will be lucky if we get to 6. There is no free lunch left.

Sure, this didn't count as a Big12 game, but it was a measuring stick and right now we are nothing to be concerned with going forward.

Back to square one all in 1 night.

There has to be a better brain-trust of Coaching. This was Pure Amateur Hour at it's finest.

The silver lining is when you hit rock bottom like this, you should theoretically only be able to go ONWARD AND UP from here.

Beardown? No. Get your candy asses back on that plane and get to work because this better not be a Bye Week. This better resemble BOOT CAMP if this team wants to get it's respect back by beating Utah.

I still believe Fifita needs to start rolling out more often and/or running the ball himself. I know he's not a track star, but he's quick enough to pick up yardage, and I think he's smart enough to know when/how to slide. Nobody's defense even needs to honor the possibility of a QB keeper because we don't do it. Just a thought. I have far less expertise in football than basketball.

I agree with you on a lot of points and wanted to make an account to voice frustrations with fellow Cat fans. I was not impressed with our two previous wins. To me, they didn't feel like we dominated enough based on being a top 25 in the nation. Allowing New Mexico to hang 40 points on this defense was concerning, only putting up 20 points on NAU was also head-scratching with the talent we have on offense. This game against KSU was my true measuring stick for this team, if we had come into Manhattan and won or played well enough to win I would agree we are likely still a top-25 team. But we got dominated, it was Bush league for this coaching staff to come out there with that performance.
As you mentioned, KSU is a good team, but they should have not dominated us like that, and there is no reason we could have not gone toe-to-toe with them the entire game with the talent we have that is being underutilized. I could see us having a .500 record or worse this year which will pretty much put us back into football non-existence. This season could get nasty for Brennan and his staff, especially if we get trounced by AS-WHO who looks 10 times better coached than we do.

UA grad school alumni

Brennan is not qualified to coach this team.  In this recent trend of hiring alumni and coaches with ties to the U, Brennan was an obvious/safe choice.

He earned the warm and fuzzies of the alumni and fans with his frequent references to coach Tomey.  However, this merely was a facade to hide his coaching deficiencies.  Like knowing or being associated with someone automatically means you'll be that person.  Like success by association.

Brennan also earned some temporary favor by keeping the core of this team together.  However, when it came time to recruit, fill holes, and most importantly coach, this is where he fell/is falling short.

His limited coaching resume and shallow coaching black book are other concerns and a reflection of not being ready.  Notice how his assistants are primarily from the ol' gang.  He should have more connections to coaches to pull from.  Why has he not been offered a major coaching job besides UA?  What made him think hiring old news fired coaches would equal success?

Lastly, when this unfortunate group of stars move on, where will we be then?  This is when his poor recruiting thus far will be magnified.  The hole fillers are now the main guys.  Brennan needs to start taking ownership of this team or things will end uncomfortably and badly.

KansasCityCats

I'm always a "coach-forgiver" so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and play devil's advocate.

If we hadn't hired Brennan immediately, there's a good chance that our ENTIRE team would have followed to UW (or elsewhere).  We're building a nice foundation of recruits and the players/alumni are all-in on the staff so I'll keep my fingers crossed that we dominate a favorable Big-12 schedule (no OSU, KU or ISU this season).

Klieman absolutely outcoached us last night.  His LB's faked the blitz and dropped back into obvious coverages that threw off Fifita and devastated our O-Line.  Our lack of a QB-spy was embarrassing and I hope that we can get a marquee win in SLC, especially considering Rising's hand injury may linger.

808Wildcat94

To be fair, I had my doubts in Fisch. However, he proved to be successful after a few years.  Whether it was the emergence of Noah or coaching is not 100% certain, but I have to primarily credit Fisch and staff.  So maybe there is hope with this current staff, but a lot has to improve going forward.

KansasCityCats

The icing on the cake is that Jonah Coleman was stuffed for a 2 yard loss on 4th down from the 1 yard line with under 2 minutes remaining.

I feel so sorry for him. Bahahahaha.

Also, ucla losing to Indiana in the Big Ten opener is pretty hilarious. If they can't compete with the Hoosiers, good luck with tOSU and Michigan.

That play was going nowhere, and reminiscent of our last play against USC last year.  To have a non-running QB like Will Rogers running the option pretty much sealed Jonah's fate.
