Quote from: Blafresh on January 26, 2024, 07:32:05 PMWe may want to consider playing Murauskas or Borovicanin because Jaden Bradley isn't doing anything to make me want to start him over Boswell. KJ brings extreme effort but can't produce on offense. We just need more guards who can score!

I think not having Henri available this season has messed with the preseason plan. However we are months into the season and Tommy has not figured it out. Boro has been here a long time. He should be a serviceable spot shooter at minimum. Every team tries to have at least 1 guy who can come in and let it rip from a specific 2 or 3 spots. Opponents have to scout it and plan for it.

So many actions can be made off of this concept. Especially as a decoy.

I'd like to see Boro in there. Paulius seemed to have more hype around him, but I'm not seeing "Tubelis" in him right now.

Krivas has proven he is worth being in the game. Just looking at the box score alone you can see that good things happened when he was in the game. That's not to say the reality on the court is better, but if you just scroll through the Oregon St Box Score you can see a lot of positive with him in there.

Tommy should work hard to have him ready for the post season. He could he our FAU version of a Vlad Goldin where last year FAU didn't use Goldin much, but I believe the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 he was a massive mismatch and came through big. We may need him to have a dominant performance at somepoint.

Right now I think Tommy should just focus on finding the right rotations and building confidence in the players. We could potentially sneak back into the Pac12 title race, but until we do we need to really try to rally and not fall apart as a team.

I say Tommy loses the locker room around the Pac12 Tournament usually, this year I feel like he lost it earlier.

He can show all of us a lot about him as a Coach's Coach by getting this group to go on a 10 game type win streak and put this kind of nonsense behind us.

100% agree Lloyd is getting paid Allot of money to coach this team, he needs to nut up and hurt some feeling benching Boswell and Ballo, at the very least at the end of games @Deb

I didn't get to watch this one, but it looks like Tommy either allowed Dante to eat and game planned to shut down the others or Dante bullied Ballo around again. Krivas had an interesting box score.

Seems interesting when I see the total minutes of Ballo at 20 and Krivas 11. Bradley only 13.

Did Tommy discover "Small Ball" tonight with Keshad at the 5? Says 35 minutes?

This could be a path to explore. All the tools are available to play it.

We ran 5 guards in the 1st with Pelle at the 5 and it was our most potent offensive minutes. Oregon struggled to stay between ball and the rim for the majority of it.

We've run looks like that a couple times, usually Keshad at the 5, and it worked well. Michigan St. Comes to mind. We ran Keshad at 5 in the 2h for our small lineup and it was not as potent but absolutely bothered Dante and Oregon. Pulling Dante out to the wing was an instant mismatch and we took advantage of it often, but it caused some Shaka style chaos and led to decent turnovers by Oregon.

All that to say, feasible option for spurts and I hope to see it continue as needed in spurts.

Dante was just unstoppable on the offensive glass. He had a lot of put backs but our bigs was good on offense.

Great all around game from start to finish.

For a team that has basically all SG's, I'm not opposed to playing them together. Giving up some 2's and rebounds isn't going to lose us games. It would be us not able to score on offense. Going small does inevitably suck the biggest players out of the lane if we are knocking down shots and that opens up cutting lanes and/or drives to the rack.

Also helps get to the FT line with enough motion built in, the Bigger players will more often get tired on longer possessions in half court and probably commit lazy fouls.

I got to see the end of the 1st half and the whole 2nd half now. In some ways it reminded me a little bit of Villanova with Brunson, Mikail Bridges, DiVinchenzo etc. Maybe we aren't that great at defense and playing slowly/methodically like Nova was, but 5 guards around the perimeter can be a nightmare to defend because we will always have the 5 best "smalls" overall. At least it enables us to guard the 3pt line better. The Pac12 doesn't really have a hard-counter to that approach.

Other Conferences would use 6'6 to 6'9 220-250lb Athletic SF's/PFs and smash that. Either way it is a good tool to have available per matchup basis.
