Agree with DH or not it's good to see him backing the the coach.    For some reason I always wonder about their hidden agendas.

He has no choice...the natives are restless...you either stand by the coach now or fire him...can't be silent any longer. The plausible deniability in his statements is transparent. "I didn't know at that time..." which is a fools defense, because if he claims that later then he did not do his due diligence...

I think Heeke may ultimately go down with the ship.

He may. He may be doing a silent search now for a coach. It would be hard to hire a coach right after sanctions. Maybe he is riding SM until the smoke is all gone and the ncaa has had their way with us so he can hire into a clean slate, or at least with everyone knowing the real status of the program? If he did not support SM right now, the class could be in danger and the fan base could drop off mid season. It could also be that there is nothing serious at the end of it all and he believes in CSM.

Exactly - I totally agree.

I do think it will be fairly easy to get a truly great coach here though - find one is the issue, but even with sanctions (which are likely to be less with a coaching change), I suspect almost anyone who was offered would take the job, short of them being in great situation right now (like a Mark Few or Jay Wright - those ships have sailed).

The whole situation is teeming with factual conjecture.

I just happen to have some FACTS handy:

AZ is currently in 10th place of the worst basketball conference (given what they should be) in division 1. It is also the worst the conference has been...EVER.
We are 14-10, 5-6 in PAC12.
Baring a miracle and what will be considered multiple upsets in a row, we will have only the second losing conference record since 1983.
We are 1-4 against ranked OOC opponents over the past three years. Kansas has played 5 OOC ranked opponents THIS YEAR alone.
2018 - We lost, as a 4 seed to 13 seed Buffalo BY 21 POINTS with the players from 4 top ten recruiting classes and the #1 over all NBA draft pick.
2017 - We lost, as 2 seed to 11 seed Xavier with players from 4 top ten recruiting classes with multiple future NBA players.
2016 - We lost, as a 6 seed to 11 seed Wichita state with players from 4 top ten recruiting classes with multiple future NBA players.
We have a federally indicted and convicted former assistant coach, an incident alone that should have seen Miller fired. There are no questions about that. Settled. Fact. Bribery. Conspiracy. Corruption.
We lost a coach who is currently under multiple investigations by the FBI (Pasternak) and eventually NCAA.
We have a suspended (as part of the firing process) coach for KNOWN (to the University) violations that have been self-reported to and are being investigated by the NCAA.
We have players over the past three years who have admitted to sexual misconduct, used PEDs, received inappropriate plane tickets...
Our HC has been accused of paying recruits and has done nothing to refute it - other than make a highly qualified, carefully worded statement, full of plausible deniability - which no one outside of Tucson, believes. He left Oregon when the story broke and believed, at the time, he would be fired. If Miller was running a Nazi concentration camp and ESPN reported it, most of Tucson would think ESPN was out to get Miller.

It is absurd now to speak as if the program with Miller can even be salvaged. It cannot and will not be by Miller, even if he gets the chance... he is not capable of it. He is a dead man walking.
