The theme of Miller's replacement lately DOES seem to scream "bring a Wildcat in", not an outsider. Having said that, I don't think there's that many Miller caliber or higher options out there that would consider this an attractive destination after taking the hits he have. That pretty much leaves a former Wildcat. Several would be willing to come here and pick up the pieces to repair their alma mater. When compared to other options, Simon actually sounds pretty decent. He has coaching experience at different levels. He VERY connected on the AAU circuit. He's young and would still relate well with the kids he's recruiting. He's a guard and could keep ASSHATU from trying to take our branding. For the situation we're in, I would be really intrigued to see what he could do.

I don't think the discussion is premature and I would bet neither does ABoR. Plans and back up plans and a back up for a back up.

That being said, is there a current Wildcat out there in a current position to take the job and perform it better, all aspects considered, than Romar at his point?

Simon being the obvious choice but I would love to see TJM back here some day. Also think Fogg may have the drive. Kind of reminds me of Avery Johnson. Not sold on Bibby, Stoudamire, Pastner. Walton may be unlikely to come back to college level. Same with Kerr.

Not sure Romar would take a similar role behind Simon as he has done with Miller but that would seem to be a homerun if he would.

Do you think Romar as the HC & Bibby as the Associate HC may work until Romar takes another job elsewhere? I kinda always figured that Romar being here at Arizona was just to keep him in the game at a high level until a good HC position was available somewhere. HC at Arizona would normally be a dream landing spot for any coach but he might not be the ideal guy to undertake a rebuild if that's what we end up having to deal with. He might be looking to take over at a program that has more in place already. Plus, who knows if Romar was involved at all with the stuff at Washington that may have him under the investigation microscope eventually.
