Rawle Alkins will not play tomorrow night, according to Sean Miller at presser.

WILD

Sean Miller said Rawle Alkins is close to coming back, but he doesn't know when he will return exactly.  "If we were in a single game elimination situation this week, he might be able to play," Miller said.

Miller says he wants his team to be better with what it does before it starts to use a zone ... doesn't lean one way or another on if Arizona will actually use a zone this week

WILD

Brandon Randolph will start tomorrow vs Long Beach State according to Sean Miller. It's also why he was the player picked for the press conference.

Naterade

I would love it if we could get a couple guys to be great on ball defenders. Barcello and Akot seem to be the most capable at this point. Smith has shown some flashes and Brandon has the physical makeup and quickness to be a great defender. I would hate to have to resort to a zone this early in the season.

Both great pressers.  I've not seen Brandon in a presser prior to this, and I was very impressed with his intelligence, well spoken, and maturity.  Coach Miller did Coach Miller.  Didn't pull any punches.  Described in detail all the problem areas and sounded like not only is he going to see those are worked on, but also improved on as much as can possibly be done.

As far as Rawle goes, he has been cleared to practice.  Coach Miller said he wasn't doing full contact yet though.  From what I've observed when players are coming back from injuries, is they will be cleared to practice, and as the norm will be observed closely to make sure there is as little as possible a chance for re-injury.  Then they'll go to full contact with observation, then back to the game.  Rawle will of course be eager to return but he's also smart enough to know it's best to follow the advice.  I'd bet he'll be on the court by at latest the second week in Dec.  Just my gut feeling.

LBSU better bring their A game, because from everything Brandon said, I'd be will to bet that this Wildcat team is going to come out with a vengeance.
