The top 2025 basketball program operating budgets.
No BYU on the list?

Based on first glance of the Top-17 schools that had the highest expenses, here's my brief list:

Winners:
Arizona
Uconn
Arkansas
Michigan State
Illinois
UVA
TTU

Losers:
Indiana (by a longshot)
Tennessee
Texas
Kentucky
Auburn
Kansas
Mississippi
UCLA

"Meh":
Louisville
UNC

It's hard to believe that IU, Auburn and Ole Miss spent ridiculous money, strictly to miss the tourney.  UT was lucky to earn a play-in game and they're rebuilding, so I understand why they are struggling.

I don't have Twitter, so I can't see the rest of the schools.

Dybansta was $4.2MM up front...then another $1.8MM to convince Padilla to blow the whistle every time AJ snapped his head back and flopped, while driving to the basket.

BYU was assessed more fouls both times they played AZ this season.
Total foul count against in both match ups
AZ:31
BYU: 36

That's because Arizona wasn't settling for jumpers. With the exception of AJ, BYU didn't attack the basket.

Even the highlights on ESPN showed his head cocked back, as if we punched the kid in the face. Such a flopper, which is acceptable in the NBA.

Friendly reminder:

And now, back to the subject of operating budgets.

Just FYI, AJ took 24 of the team's 35 FT's throughout the two matchups. Those "missed attempts" aren't shown on the above charts but receive partial credit to Padilla and Co.

Yes, back to budgets. Hard to believe that Arizona's payroll is significantly lower than BYU's.

Lloyd was smart to retain Krivas and let Veesaar go. I was initially pessimistic about that move but he sure showed us!

The one time AJs head actually snapped back for real was when he tried to drive thru Awaka and found out how impossible that actually was

What's interesting to me and why I brought it up is the difference between the total operating budget vs. the NIL budget.
It's a small sample size but in AZ's case it suggests to me that monies are better allocated to coaches, facilities and other  expenditures rather than being "all in" on shelling out dollars to individual players.
