Arizona Vs asu 🏀 Game Preview/Discussion Thread 2/17/24 730pm FS1

The Arizona State Sun Devils will play the Arizona Wildcats in a PAC-12 game on Saturday night at the McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona. Arizona State has won two games in a row, while Arizona is on a five game winning streak. Let's take a look at the betting matchup and the Arizona State vs Arizona prediction.

Arizona State Preview
The Arizona State Sun Devils are 13-12 (7-7) this year after they defeated Oregon State by a score of 79-61 in their last game. Arizona State was tied at 33 at the half, but they scored 46 points in the second half for the win. The Sun Devils shot 57.7% from the field and had 15 turnovers in the game. ASU defeated Utah by a score of 85-77 in the game prior to Oregon State, but they lost the previous five games. The Sun Devils are scoring 70 points per game with 33.4 rebounds per game and 12.3 assists per game, while allowing 72.1 points against per game this year. Frankie Collins is averaging 13.7 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game. Arizona State is shooting 42.3% from the field, 65.8% on free throws, and 30.6% on three pointers this season.

Arizona Preview
The Arizona Wildcats are 19-5 (10-3) this season after they defeated Colorado by a score of 99-79 in their last game. Arizona led 47-40 at halftime and they scored 52 points in the second half for the easy win. The Wildcats shot 52.9% from the field and made 10 three pointers in the game. Arizona has won five games in a row and they have scored at least 82 points in all five. The Wildcats are scoring 90.1 points per game with 43.2 rebounds per game and 18.9 assists per game, while giving up 73.5 points against per game this season. Caleb Love is averaging 18.9 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game. Arizona is shooting 48.8% from the field, 72.8% on free throws, and 36.8% on three pointers this year.

BDU Free Pick
Arizona rolls into this game on a five game winning streak and they are scoring over 90 points per game this season. The Wildcats are ranked #5 in the country and they just picked up two huge road wins against Utah and Colorado. Arizona State is on a two game winning streak, but they have struggled in conference play. The Sun Devils are only shooting 42.3% from the field and are not a very good rebounding team. I know this is a big spread, but Arizona is the much better team and they are at home. Take the Wildcats to win Big!

I reserve the right to say that it is my fault if we lose. I will take all responsibility for not doing my civic duty in disbelief in what Tommy is doing.

I don't like the 1 week off season that this has been.

The rest has never really helped this team. Chemistry may have been forged on that last road trip that wasn't present before, but I am curious to see if the momentum can continue. We should be winning the next set of games by a margin of at least 10ppg.

This is every team's final shot to get a "Quad 1 Win vs a Top Tier Ranked Opponent" (OR WHATEVER).

We are getting everyone's best shot now. The Pac12 Tournament is a different level and there may only be 1 team that gets a "resume boost" from knocking us off at any point before the Final game (obviously if we make the Finals and lose, the other team automatically will qualify even if they are the worst in the league). So I am talking about Warshington State, Colorado, and UCLA mainly here.

I cannot think of any Pac12 Team that is a Lock to make the Dance except for us right now. Don't care what Joseph Brackets says.

I couldn't imagine assu wanting to play hack-a-Ballo because they don't have the depth to give up fouls. Their bigs are limited. I assume they well separate ourselves in the second half.

I think ASU is garbage or "basura" as some may say. However they have tended to play us close over the years.

Also I just noticed this is a Home Game. Hopefully Tommy doesn't get too complacent. This is not an Exhibition Game. I am looking for continued momentum more than anything, but also looking to see who has evolved in their maturity out there.

When we play @Tempe I will probably lean into Tommy more.

Caleb stared the assu bench DOWN.  I love the intensity and fact that Arizona continued to pour it on, despite being up by a significant margin.  Everybody contributed to break the record for largest winning margin in the history of the Territorial Cup series.
