Arizona/USC History

I was surprised to dig into the stats and learn that with the exception of transitioning from RichRod to Sumlin, Arizona and USC have primarily been "one score games" since 2007.  We always seem to keep it competitive and I expect the Cats to do the same on Saturday. 

Caleb Williams is a badass but our defense has improved and our QB play will determine whether we can keep it close.  Below is are the final scores, beginning with Arizona's total:

Even I can admit that it is weirdly impressive to see the close final scores.

I can't remember the last time we beat USC even though the scores are right there, but I will say that most of final scores are not indicative of how the game was actually played anyway

I know. I was kinda baffled while digging through the history. Most of the games came down to a final possession and/or onside kick attempt.

Despite not being able to finish against USC, we rarely see blowouts (which is odd, considering the traditional recruiting advantage).

Now that Arizona's blue chip recruits are signing on, USC will disappear from our regular schedule. Oh well...

Arizona and USC ended the conference series by playing "one possession games" in 14 of the final 17 matchups.

Despite the lopsided record, it has been a fun matchup. Enjoy being Ohio State's little brother.
