Little George

Lots to think about here.

Many were upset over the de Laura legal stuff from when he was in HS. I don't care to rehash everything there, but the things that happen when a person is under 18 do fall under a different status. The fact that the two players involved were being sued actually should have not been put out in public due to the age of those involved. Either way it did get out and many wanted to throw the two young men under the bus and then pull forward and backward a few time for good measure. The more I did get made me question the actual story that was out. I know the staff and administration looked long and hard before deciding anything on his status. The last thing anyone needed was for everyone to jump through hoops with knee jerk reactions. Now that the school and staff have resolved the issues we hope that things are settled. My hope is that all involved learned from the experience and have made every effort to change the dirrection of their lives to a more positive one. Now on to the QBs.

#7 Jayden de Laura

Last year de Laura came in and won the starting job knowing less than a third of the play book. It showed! He had the legal stuff in his head. It showed! We had a rotating OL which did ok at times but never became anywhere near solid or consistant. It showed! The difference this year is day and night.
de Laura knows the full play book and has his timing down. The legal stuff has been settled. He has added about 20 lbs of strength since joining the program. The OL I will cover later, but appears to be the best we have had in years, if not the best ever. I'll add one more in that we have a deep and talented WR and TE corps. The OL and WR/TE situation benefits all the QBs yes, ut knowing the playbook and having control of the team without the legal garbage will be huge! De Laura finsihed up third in passing in the PAC last year with all those mountains of adversity in his face. With the changes I have mentioned, de Laura should be one of the top QBs in the nation this year. It is said we have two Heisman candidates in our conference at QB, but I would think the de Laura is less than a step behind those two at this point of his career. Look at all the award lists he is on. I am expecting an increase in yardage and TDs this year and a serious drop in those INTs. That alone should get us a plus two in the win column.

#11 Noah Fafita

Up until the end of Fall Camp Noah has looked very confident throughout his time here. He showed some signs of cracks in his armor over the last few days of camp. I still very comfortable with him backing up de Laura at any point he needs to come in. The area he struggled in was more due to the nature of the scrimmage where everything was set to practice on specific areas of the red zone, short yardage, and being backed into our own end zone. So there was not a rythym to the situation at all. The whole team struggled in many ways with penalties and such. Players like Fafita and de Laura feed on that rythym and it affects the entire team. It did and it may prove to be a benefit to us later to have seen it come out when it did.
Fafita should be a strength to this team if at any point he needs to come in during a critical part of a game.

#17 Brayden Dorman

I believe there was a plan from the start for Brayden to work on his physical and mental developement as a leader while focusing on his academics his first year in the system. I expect we may see him some if the situation arises where he can get a little PT for experience. He can play in up to four games and save his RS. From my understanding this has not changed. Let's hope all of our QBs stay healthy. This kid has the tools if developed, to be playing on Sundays some day. I will leave it at that with my opinion.

The QB position is a position of strength this year.
