Washington decommitted from Creighton after their coach made a remark about the plantation. Tyty was originally going to release his top 5, but after talking with coach Lloyd he has added Arizona to his top 6. He is from Arizona and UofA could land him.

Tyty highlights
Washington involved in a basketball brawl back in 2019.. He's moved on from this and is one of the best point guards in his class.
Creighton coach McDermott's comment that caused him to decommit below.
Creighton Coach Greg McDermott's "I need everyone to stay on the plantation" exhortation to his players
No thanks
I can't believe his players continued to play for him after that comment. If they had protested, McDermott would have likely been fired but they stood up for him and accepted it as a "slip".
TyTy obviously took offense and it could benefit Arizona if he opts to play for Lloyd!
I have no idea how good TyTy is, but when an AZ kid has offers from the big boys - you make sure he knows you'd love to keep him home.
Good job.

There is a bit of baggage involved with Washington. He was involved in a huge basketball brawl and kicked off his highschool team. He's #3.
Saw him play at geico nationals he can ball
Tommy boy going hard after Tyty!

Arizona: "It's hometown. Only an hour and 30 minutes away from my house. Tommy [Lloyd] has called me twice a day since he got the job. Me and Coach [Jack] Murphy have a good relationship. One of my friends goes there. Me and Dalen [Terry] have been friends since like second grade. He's been trying to recruit me to go there."

This would be the taller version of James Akinjo right here.
Not sure if he would come with the list that he has.
The one thing that I believe Arizona has over most on that list is that their 2020 season was much better than most (LSU/UK/KU), but one just won a title (Baylor) and the other ran the PAC-12 last season (Oregon).
Who knows when it comes to this, but I think Arizona should have a puncher's chances, and things look promising on the outside trying to peak inside.
Without any inside info, I assume that KU and Arizona both have the edge. With both PG's putting their names in the portal and the recent development of Jalen Suggs, Lloyd has a nice sales pitch.
Selby is the only PG to leave Kansas without being drafted, so immediate playing time under Bill Self is huge.
Also, it wouldn't surprise me if Cal came out of nowhere and he ended up at UK. Unlikely because last season was a debacle but TyTy wants to be in the league and Kentucky knows how to get you there.

PPU doing our part to get TyTy to Tucson.
Between Dalen and PPU...I think we have a pretty good shot.
"It's my hometown; only like an hour and a half away from home, and I speak to Coach Tommy Lloyd at least twice a day on FaceTime," Washington told SI. "He's really coming hard and letting me know that he wants me to come there and be the point guard. He's really passionate. Just seeing how they ran the offense at Gonzaga and how free flowing it was is attractive to me. I love the way he used Jalen Suggs because me and Jalen have a lot of similarities in our games."

It seems like we have a great shot at landing ty ty I hope its us I fear Kentucky an Kansas, Kentucky as they are great at recruiting period. But Kentucky has Hickman who I was hoping Arizona would land.
Not sure about who Kansas has at pg.
Baylor probably needs a pg.
We will have to wait it out.
Akinjo going to Baylor just improved our chances in more ways than one.

Oregon picks up a commit from Oklahoma. Looks like they are no longer going after TyTy

I hope lloyd locks up ty ty with him being on campus even though they can't have contact.
I'm hearing TyTy is down to Arizona vs Kansas. Zona with the edge right now.
Tyty Washington is with Dalen Terry, Ben Mathurin, Kerr, Koloko, and Tibet. Fans at the game are telling TyTy to come to UofA. Nice!

Tyty was on a visit today. He visited with some close friends and caught a game. Nobody said anything other than that. I can see where people were worried about NCAA violations during the dead period though. That is why the "He is NOT on a visit" comments were out.
But Tyty did truly look at home from every report.
I hope Arizona can lock him up .
We really need his service's.
Small update on TyTy. G League may steal him away.

That would really suck....

That would really suck....
Yes it would. If he is ready for the draft then yes, but if not school might be a better option. But I am NOT his parents.
I have mixed emotions. Arizona fans should obviously want TyTy to desperately commit. He could be the primary ballhandler for a high-profile program that will win a lot of games this season.
On the other hand, he should go to the league if he doesn't care to go to college. If he plays selfishly and shoots (under) 38% with 12.5 attempts per game (Akinjo's numbers)...we'll be better off with Kerr at the point.
Best case scenario is that TyTy showcases his talents in Tucson for ~2 years and raises his draft stock as a point guard that can also score!
This will suck if this happens we really need ty ty at pg. We need his talent.
I hope he atleast comes to collage for a year.
Hey Ty Ty come on home to Arizona!!!
I'm praying TyTy chooses Arizona. Can't wait to find out.
We need him for sure
I don't have social media so I'm constantly hitting "refresh" here to see if/when he makes a decision. Would be a huge addition for us next season...
One thing about lloyd is an this scares me is he seems to only be recruiting ty
Right now if we miss on him he has no one else he has offered or recruiting.
Atleast Miller offered 1 to 2 other players at the same position I think this something we will have to get use to.
As that seems what gonzaga did.
I remember the way they landed ben gregg.
Let's hope we land ty ty we really need him.
If not Hickman would be next in my book.
I think Lloyd will target multiple recruits in the future. He was thrown into the same situation as Miller in '09 when he didn't have sufficient time to gather prospects because it was April when he took over.
He's going all-in on TyTy...and it sounds like it will work IF he doesn't jump straight to the G-league.
Ty is just another guy at uk, can get paid in the G-league..but can be the face of a new era in ARIZONA basketball..
If that means anything to the young man, would love to have him here.
BEARDOWN
TyTy Washington announces that he will announce his decision on 5/15/21
https://twitter.com/tytywashington3/status/1389633403046174720
I like the idea of "committing". I assume the G-League is out at this point. Bear Down, TyTy!
Looking forward to the announcement at the same time nervous about it really need his service's an I hope he does not choose the g league. I hope its Arizona.
In my opinion, unless you desperately need the money for your family, the G-League is only an ideal option if you're so good that you could be a starter in the NBA straight out of high school, which would typically apply to the top 3-ish players in the country. If that isn't the case, there's a good chance that your draft stock will take a significant hit. Look at Daishen Nix and Isaiah Todd. Those dudes were projected lottery picks, and they may fall well into the 2nd round now. It may not be totally fair, but players who look great against college competition are going to get the nod over players that look pretty good against pro competition. So, unless money is urgent, a college showcase is still the best option for just about everybody.
Kick off a new era at UofA TyTy 🌵 🐻⤵🌵
I agree pryme .
I just hope ty ty takes his time an gets the decision right. once he decides what he is doing. I hate when these kids commit to a school an than decide later on the g league , if he commits to Arizona I want that to be the end result.
Ty Ty, If you choose Arizona, you make connections with all the past and present Arizona Players and Coaches. If you the G league, you make connections to no one.
