The conspiracy out there is the real reason troops are in DC is because we're protecting the capital as we're about to go to war with China. I know it sounds crazy, but 65k troops is overkill for the inauguration.
What do you all think?
China wouldn't have a reason to start a war if we have a change in power. If they somehow planned to attack us...they won't send meth-heads to break windows in the capital. The US is preparing to defend themselves against Trump supporters.
Glad I'm paying taxes to employ troops to be shipped-in, so we can keep our nation's capital safe...from local terrorists...
No, we aren't going to war with China. I don't know why they are overdoing security for the inauguration.
Perhaps they learned from the 2017 inauguration when liberal fascist terrorists torched cars, stabbed people, and rioted. Here's a little reminder of the love and tolerance displayed on Inauguration Day 2017.

The number of law enforcement and 65K troops on the ground is too excessive. Way too much fear going on. Remember...
Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. - Yoda

More cars were torched on 4th ave when Arizona lost to Dook in 2001...and more people died from last week's events than the 2017 inaugural day. When you have a large gathering of gun-nuts, you have to prepare for the worst.
There were large gatherings of "gun nuts" throughout the campaign season... not one murder, car burned, business/livelihood destroyed. How about those large gatherings of woke "mostly peaceful" Marxists (supported by the incoming Vice President) that every large city was graced with this summer? Exactly how many Billions of $ of damage? How many dozens of lives lost? How many cops injured?
Was it Trump "gun nuts" that laid siege to a FEDERAL COURTHOUSE in Portland for over a month, trying to burn it down, and injuring hundreds of officers? Is that terrorism or insurrection?
Just trying to figure out when violence is acceptable, and when it's "terrorism".

Well, if there are 65k troops in DC it might be a good day for China to strike the capital? Maybe why Trump is leaving town early morning to avoid the madness?
Just throwing a few things out there to think about.
In the end, God IS in control and we should have Faith not fear.
ALL of these situations are acts of terrorism...and BOTH of these ridiculous parties should be ashamed of themselves for not displaying the civility that MLK tried to spread, while peacefully marching.
I'm solely reiterating the reason that the government is throwing a ridiculous amount of troops into DC. They obviously learned their lesson that it will take more than just a few local cops to keep everything in order tomorrow.
Sending the National Guard from other states leaves us vulnerable in other capitals across the country. I wouldn't be surprised if riots broke out from liberals or conservatives in the streets of NYC, LA, Seattle, etc.
Yes LG, Trump will likely be (conveniently) out of town...just like Bush was out during 911. I wish that God controlled these situations, however it's up to Americans to act reasonable, rather than using the transition of power as an excuse to further tear apart the left from the right.
Thank you KC. Like you, I condemn what took place at the Capitol as much as I condemn the violence that we witnessed over the summer. They all meet the definition of "terrorism"... the use of violence, or threat of violence, to intimidate for an ideological purpose. Violence, no matter what, should be rejected by everyone. Unfortunately, too many people in positions of power are willing to ignore violence on one side while condemning it on the other... Democrats and Republicans alike.
It's just sad that the new normal is going to be hyper-paranoia by every new administration, whether left or right. Paranoia is something usually exhibited by dictators, not a trademark of a healthy republic. A government "of the people, by the people, for the people" should have no reason to be paranoid "of the people". If it is, it should be asking itself why. Again this applies to both Republicans and Democrats.

Everyone on this board condemned the rioters in Portland and elsewhere. Our disagreement was over some trying to conflate peaceful protesters with rioters. Same with Biden and Harris.
In contrast the President's lawyer called on the Trump gun nuts to engage in " trial by combat" and the President told them to not be weak, incited them, and refused to take steps to stop them or send in national guard troops ( thanks VP Pence) during the insurrection.
Can you really not see the difference?

We can help stop this by not engaging in or tolerating hyperbole in forums like this. Stop humoring Little George by allowing him to post his latest conspiracy of the day.
LG is free to post as he sees fit. JB if it fits your agenda, all is well in the world, as soon as it doesn't then censorship is your conclusion. I could post quotes from numerous Democratic members, including Biden that are equally horrific and want would that accomplish. If you don't agree or it hurts your feelings, simply continue until you find something your like or agree with.

Such an open minded, tolerant titan of progressive thinking. Your, "I'm right and he's wrong" certainty will definitely help build bridges. Then again, there's roughly 75 million conservatives of voting age age that might consider your offerings as mostly ignorant, one-sided, partisan dribble. Just sayin, Dude.
Has anything been normal since Trump took office?
No
Is Trump normal?
No
Is this situation deploying 65k troops to inaugural ceremony normal?
No
Is this all because of Trumps dumb ass?
Yes
Like a romantic loves a good romance book or movie, I love a good conspiracy theory. Problem is there has never been a good one before. The push to divide America is evident right here, even on our own board. America is the home of free speech yet if you are conservative your speech is silenced. BLM burned and looted all summer. Antifa did the same. It was free speech and "mostly peaceful"? When Trump took office in 2017 there was violence and burning of vehicles in DC and I do not recall anyone crying insurrection then? While I once said I would never vote for Trump, it has become an issue a terrible situation where I actually did vote for him. The corruption in our government did not start in 2016. It has been going on for decades. This is not a republican democrat issue. This is a Constitution issue. Both parties seem set on pissing that away with all of the People's Rights. Another arty won't fix the issue either. I hope that 4, 8, even 20 years from today that life is good and I have been wrong. That isn't looking too good right now.
Just remember that any time you disagree with the main stream media or the government control you are called a conspiracy theorist. I disagree often! I do not blindly follow the next wave in the ocean or breeze in the sky. It does not offend me to be called something different.
How did he responding to (according to this source) 65,000 troops go down to20,00 to 25,000, in all actuality?
They probably recognized that Americans won't get riled up about false news if the former president's social media accounts are banned.
