Title: Richard Jefferson offered reward to find murderer of father & was denied

Why would anyone deny a family member who wants to add money to a reward? I hope one day they find out who it was and Jefferson can get more closure.

Hopefully they have a lead.  Police will often prevent outsiders from contributing to an investigation if they've made progress.

For example, if an outsider steps in and throws out a fake suspect to try and get a bigger "reward", it'll screw up the process.

Nobody deserves to lose their life in a stupid situation like this.  It hurts even more to see RJ in pain because he's one of the most genuine guys on earth.  Best of luck to him in finding these lunatics...
