Title: Khalil Whitney Leaves Kentucky
Post by: mvpreed2 on January 25, 2020, 08:00:00 AM
5* prospect and 2020 McDonald's All-American Khalil Whitney is leaving Kentucky according to multiple sources.
He started as the season began and slowly slid down the rotation.
He played three TOTAL minutes against Arkansas and Georgia.

I know we don't have any available scholarships, nor does the chance of Whitney transferring to another program seem likely, but this is the type of transfer I would have wanted Miller to go after with limited options for us at SF for us in 2020 outside of Z.Williams.
Thoughts?

You never know how these kids will turn out or what went wrong where they were.

From his comments, I get the impression that Coach Cal wanted him to go the four year plan and he wanted the learn while you play plan.  Hard to say for sure without knowing more about him or the details to the situation.  I did kind of feel "the business of basketball" had a little extra sauce on it, which again could only draw speculation on my part.  But it did stand out to me as well.

We likely are gonna need a strong transfer class next year but I hope our regular HS recruiting gets back on track soon.  The staff has done an amazing job of course, given the accusations unfairly hyped by ESPN.  It'll be interesting to see which transfers Miller targets.

Does he have a relationship with Baker?

I generally dint like to make assumptions about transfers because they could go anywhere...but recruits are often hosted by existing players and I'm sure they've crossed paths in Lexington...and shared some animosity towards Calipari.

This is an interesting angle that I never thought about KCC!
I would assume that even if they have not crossed paths, the fact that both have left Kentucky, it could be easy to make the assumption that those two could quickly form a bond that could swing in our favor IF Whitney did choose to transfer to another school and IF we were able to clear a scholarship to get him.

Damn KCC, that was good...
