I was listening to local sports radio this week & Mike Decourcy was a guest.
He mentioned that 20 years ago, Bill Self (at Illinois) drove to Chicago to watch one of his Top-25 prospects play a high school game. It wasn't an AAU matchup, so the competition wasn't strong. The recruit didn't hit a single field goal & only put up 4 points that night.
Self slightly backed off the recruitment because he couldn't justify making the kid a high priority after seeing him struggle in person.
That kid was Andre Iguodala. Thanks, Bill!
Thats great...illustrative of the fact that basketball is an art form and not a science!
you have to be able to see beyond numbers, Lute was a master at this. Miller is special needs level in this regard.
True about Lute, he could spot talent no matter how many *'s a player had. Wasn't Iggy headed for Arkansas and Nolan Richardson? Nolan got fired then Lute stepped in.

I think he played there a year and transferred.
hope, just looked it up...he signed to play at Arkansas but Richardson got fired - you had it right.
