Title: O'Neal remains in good academic standing per UCLA source
Post by: GoCatZ on February 12, 2019, 03:47:52 PM
This tells me that it's good news for Arizona and maybe Phelps broke a rule, but didn't commit a violation.🤔

Was curious what fucla was doing in all this since Reef was enrolled at their university. Now WTF is Heeke and Co. up to? What did Phelps do? I'm more confused then ever.

Or Heeke is the one who should be fired. Have no idea what he did

Phelps still hasn't been fired, so there's still a chance for him to return.

So investigators have been at it for over a year and this is all they got. That's actually a positive. I have listened to a few things and have read between the lines and I'm starting to feel like Dawkins has a vendetta against  Arizona. Not sure why but I get that feeling.

I'm guessing this doesn't apply to athletes but academic requirements at UCLA seem far more stringent than UA.  I was surprised when I once read he didn't make it into Arizona due to academics but then landed at UCLA.  Not sure if the rumor about academics at the time was true but it was on this board or another Arizona board.  Eventually it sounded like he walked because of FBI but maybe the reason all along was actually this academics mystery.

Yeah... funny that you would believe the crap that UCLA fans spew.   They say the same thing about pretty much any recruit that they can't get - Miles Simon, Luke Walton, Aaron Gordon, Brandon Jennings and the list goes on and on.   I even remember reading the same things about both TJ Leaf and Shareef O'Neal when they were each committed to Arizona!

This is big time college basketball and they get in pretty much whoever they want.  It's a totally different set of academic requirements than they have for the general student body.  In fact, the academic requirements at UCLA are pretty much IDENTICAL to those at Arizona and here they are:

what does academic fraud at AZ have to do with UCLA...Shareef has spent his entire freshmen year there... whatever happened at AZ would have no bearing. Also, he is not an NCAA athlete...so his good standing at UCLA would be solely related to the classroom work he has done there.

NO, actually this has NOT been investigated for a year by the NCAA, or anyone else. Apparently the multimillion dollar internal investigation did not uncover this. The NCAA process is just starting and we self reported this at the same time we put Phelps on double secret probation. Not sure what you have been listening to or reading, but the NCAA has not even gone for their first cigarette break yet...buckle up.

That is on top of an FBI investigation that is STILL on going (speculation Miller will be subpoenaed in the Dawkins trail and for maybe paying players), Book in federal prison, Pasternak being investigated for multiple things while at AZ.....
