A family friend was hired by USC & that is ultimately the reason why Cherry picked USC over Arizona & Oregon.

USC has money to throw around for recruits?  Oh yea, open checkbook over there.

I cannot speak on USC basketball, but I do know that Coach Helton helped M.Tuipulotu's brother find a job and that is (rumored) to be a big reason how we got him to flip from Washington to USC, even with school starting so soon.
It is the nature of the game now, I believe a lot of programs find ways to "help" recruits in some way(s) to help sway them to their school.
That is a big reason why I do not want to coach basketball because of all the politics off the floor that you have to deal with.
