Title: Kentucky's Quade Green Transferring!
Post by: mvpreed2 on December 12, 2018, 08:19:06 PM
The former ESPNU prospect, #24 in 2017, has decided to transfer.
Kentucky brought in two 5* prospects in Quickley and Hagans and they apparently pushed Green to the bench.
I am normally not one to do the typical fan response, but I wouldn't mind throwing out a feeler and trying to bring him in.

When you look at our roster, we lose Coleman after this season and could lose Williams.
Mannion is in and we could lose him after 2019 and/or Williams should he decide to return.
Barcello would be a senior for the 2020-21 season, but as of now he is not starting PG quality.
We bring in Green, he sits for the remainder of this season, and would be eligible to play in the spring of 2019, BUT we could choose to redshirt him for the remainder of the 2018-19 season and have him hit the ground running as our starting PG in 2019 as a RS Sophomore.
What say you?

While I always think a top 25 PG is worth kicking the tires on... I worry about his fit, it is looking like BWill will need another year before hitting the draft. That would put Mannion and BWill both ahead of him on the depth chart. I think for the following year it comes down to what we have left of DD/AB and maybe one of BW or NM plus a hs pg recruit I'm sure. He doesn't seem to be the type to have the mindset to outwork his teammates and force his coaches to play him so it is worth considering how happy he would be here.

I don't like to generalize, but the kids that pick UK are "needy".

They could get a lot of attention in Tucson, but I think Miller has an opportunity to bring in another high-end freshman.

If Quade comes out west...he'll likely end up in Seattle.

We will not lose williams and we (supossedy) have great crew coming. With BW and BR and DD we should be solid...again

By now he should have already picked his school, but he would not have been eligible until January, and I am not so sure he would have been behind BW.
I know he is Miller's golden child (for now) but he is not what we thought he was coming into Arizona.

I would not have been surprised if he did come, outplay someone for their spot and take their minutes.
He was used more like a true PG at Kentucky and those are the types that seem to thrive here because Miller is able to put so much talent around them.

I would not go that far.
This is the only example, but the last 5* recruit to transfer out of Kentucky is not doing so bad at his new school Michigan (Matthews).
I say that to say that we don't know if it is the player or the coach/system.

I normally wouldn't touch ANY Kentucky prospect, but I actually like Green and would not mind if Miller made a call to see what things were like..
