Title: 5-star Robinson-Earl speaks on UofA
Post by: |ᴘ|ʀ|ʏ|ᴍ|ᴇ| on October 13, 2018, 05:36:06 PM
A few days ago, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was interviewed by 247's Evan Daniels about USA basketball and his final 5 schools, including Arizona, and he had some positive things to say about U of A & Deandre Ayton ahead of his final visit to Tucson. The following quoted portion is the UofA section, but all of his comments on Kansas, UNC, Villanova, and Notre Dame can also be found in the interview.

"Which one's have you done officials to?
Every single one besides Arizona.

Lets go through your finalists, starting with Arizona ... what sticks out about them?
I would say Arizona really transform players like DeAndre [Ayton]. Everyone was like Marvin [Bagley] is number one and all of that at the beginning of the season and then towards the end of the season everybody was like DeAndre is going to be number one. You can tell that their weight program gets them stronger and they really work on getting me in the position that I want to be in."

With Robinson-Earl planning on making a decision before the season starts, there won't be much to wonder about.
I would say that's a good sign, but whether we land him or not, it would shorten the list of prospects for us.
Robinson-Earl and/or Nnaji/Timme would be a nice addition to the class, but if one comes off the board and does not come to Arizona, that would give us a clearer picture on our list and who is still a realistic prospect to come.

I always look for guys to talk about getting to the NBA as the key when they are discussing their school options. Seems like a good sign compared to his comments on other schools but Kansas still seems to be the betting favorite.

JRE could use Chris Rounds.  He is strong, but would be a monster after working out in Tucson (although KU's Andrea Hudy is the only other trainer in the country that could replicate Rounds' work; she's a monster).

Although Kansas is the favorite, JRE's dad played for Roy Williams in Lawrence...so UNC has a legit shot as well.

At the same time...we took Markkanen (despite his father playing at Kansas).  This recruitment is up in the air & I hope he jumps on board with Mannion, Green and Koloko!
