Post by: WILD on September 16, 2018, 08:08:13 AM
Arizona Wildcats have an in home visit with 5-Star Big man Drew Timme tonight. Miller got the top PG of 2019 & is now going after one of the top Big man of the class.  BearDown!

Timme and McDaniels are the modern bigs that I believe Miller is going to try and target going forward.
They are look like a traditional big, but they have more ability to put the ball on the floor and create their own shot off the dribble.
Something like an Aaron Gordon, minus the freak athleticism that he had.

I'm not sure if this is one of Miller's "first to commit" strategies with Timme and McDaniels, but our recruitment of bigs between those two, Robinson-Earl, Nnaji & Koloko have me wondering how does Miller's big board look when it comes to who is sitting at the top of the list and how does the rest of them fall?

I'm hoping that Miller prioritizes the guys that will be on the roster for more than 1 season.

This program needs consistency & I think guys like Koloko and Timme will stick around and be productive for multiple years in our frontcourt.

Regardless, I'd be ecstatic to land any of the above-mentioned.

Miller going hard to get Timme & will be in to see him tonight. Drew Timme has already visited Arizona on September 16th.

Well now it's clear Armstrong and Timme are at the very top of Miller's list.
I'd bet that if we got the two to commit, paired with Mannion and Koloko, Miller will do his best to get all four to come to the Red/Blue game and have Green get the full court press.
All eyes would be on him at that point.
Miller putting in that OT on the recruiting trail for real!

If we completed this class with Timme and Nnaji that would be optimal IMO.  Armstrong is a great player but we are already loaded at the wing and in danger of being severely outmatched in the paint against most teams if we don't land some big men.

Koloko/Timme and Nnaji in 2018?
Adding them to Jeter/Gettings/Lee, we would have six bigs next season.

Miller hasn't been known to keep that many bigs on the roster.
Are you assuming we lose Jeter and/or Lee after the season?
I don't think Miller has ever recruited that many bigs, especially since he only plays 3-4 during the season.
I wouldn't be opposed to it if we decided to redshirt 1-2 of them, Koloko and Lee maybe?

I think Koloko needs time to bulk up and work on his offensive game before he earns major minutes.

Lee has so many person things going on (and he hasn't contributed on the court yet), which makes him a prospective transfer.

Jeter could jump to the league...although it isn't likely.

Gettings is a perimeter player that doesn't shoot well from the outside.

I think Timme and Nnaji would be a great complement to our existing team because Arizona will be DEEP with guards/wings.  Waaaaaay too many question marks with our frontcourt in 2019-2020.  It will be interesting to see if/when we get another commit.

Im assuming Koloko wont be a consistent contributor until he is a sophomore or junior and would probably be best red shirting.  I think Jeter is gone if he has a successful season.  If he doesn't play well then that's just another reason to land these guys because if Jeter hasn't found it by now..it's probably not gonna happen for him.  And for me, Lee is up in the air.  I dont know where he is mentally or if off the court issues will continue.  But I would prefer to have two guys who are likely 2 or 3 year guys(IMO) than to continue filling gaps in our front court with 1 year grad transfers.  Also, the 2019 class is rather stacked with big men while the 2020 class is not so much.  Something to also consider.

Nice to know Robinson-Earl and Timme will be off the board by the middle of November.
No more wondering where we stand, it will be official then.

I wonder if Miller is trying to lock up his entire class by the ESP?
