While many are questioning RR and talking about him being on the hot seat this year, I will address this a different way. He does likely feel some pressure to perform to save his job and reputation. RR built a rep.for getting more from players than they thought they had in them. Much of this at the QB position. He has done some of this at Arizona already when we think of what he was able to accomplish with BJ Denker. Many thought Anu was the next great thing, but when he began to struggle with injuries we had to look down the depth chart. no RR has not been able to land the Big name QB, but we are not with out talent. The issue is more of an injury issue than a talent issue. With Anu, he almost became gun shy from the injuries. Too many head shots for one. Dawkins has also seen his share of injuries and many have given up on him as well. Tate had a brief windon of opportunity last year, but was only 17 with a broken down make shift line and we were deep into our reserves at RB as well. With no run game to support and weak protection, he did not overwhelm many. This brings me to the pictures.
Family! RR has always had a family like atmosphere that the players love because of his value on his own family. That extends in to everything he does which is why his loyalty ran so deep within his staff.
Fun! RR wants to win as much as anyone and knows the hard work required to do so. He also believes that while the jiurney will require sacrifices along the way, that loving what you do and having fun along the way is important. He constantly talks about players he is recruiting "Loving the game". He also leads by example in the fun catagory as he tries to do things like the videos, cancelling practice, ice cream trucks, and other things that can lead to better chemestry and closeness about the team.
RR is an inovator who got a little complacent and has had to do a re-set. I believe we will see some changes this year that will bring us back to a bowl game and a brighter future. Both his primary QBs are more of the mold of Denker and so I would expect to see more of an offensive set like we ran with Denker. Expect to see the TEs used more than ever on an RR team. More blocking (protection is critical) and also more involved in the passing game. We know the short out and wheel route passing game will be used more, but expect the bigs on the out and the bigger bigs over the middle a lot more this year. Last year teams loaded up the box. If our run game is solid we can expect the same this year. The out routes and wheel routes are great in those situations, but expect the Bigs over the middle to be a staple as well for those teams crowding the box.
Also noted is that RR made some major changes on both D and STs. He has an actual STs coach, and an agressive staff on the D side as well.
Some say it is too late and RR will not make it the season, but I would expect him to be here at the end of the season either way because of his buy out. I also don't think the pressure has gotten to him as mucb as some make it out to be. I also believe he knows the direction this team is headed is up. The only thing left to do is put it all out on the field and watch this team bloom through adversity. They have had plenty of that!
Go Wildcats! Bear Down and go bowling!
Gues I have been drinking your cool aid, but the guys on the other site must think I am nuts because I said that 7 wins should be expected.
