Title: 96 Marcus Griffin
Post by: Little George on June 05, 2017, 06:13:54 AM
Marcus was one of the guys everyone here wanted to see on the field when he came in as a highly rated DL guy from Bellevue Washington. He has size that we need up front and we are still not sure why he has not performed well enough to see the field. He will be a RS Jr this year and it would be a nice thing to see him actually make some waves on the field. Just another reason not put trust the rating systems. Seemed to have a renewed interest after some coaching changes so maybe things will finally click for him.

Is the issue with him being lazy, or is there something else to it?

The former staff thought so, but he did show some renewed interest and energy following the coaching changes. The prior alignment catered to the LBs making plays and the DL eating blocks. Under the 4-2-5 scheme that changes a little more to the strengths of Griffin. If he were to truely apply himself, I could see him cracking the line up this year to some degree.  i for one would love for this to happen! I am also not holding my breath on the issue. How many times have our most hyped recruits flopped out while our Scooby, Cason, and Zellers guys have done well? Even Chuck and Teddy from the DS years were not highly recruited guys.
