Tharpe is a 6'5" 275 lbs DL that really came on late in the season last year as a walk on player. He is from Hebron HS in Carrollton TX. Will be a RS Jr. He is still learning the game and shows great potential in an area of great need. Here is a nice article about him by Michael Lev

This is a big reason I can see some improvement along the D front this coming season. A year of experience and learning will serve him well.

Sounds like he will only get better, is he on scholarship yet?

No, because the team is still in flex as they could add another player or two as well as the possibility of other players leaving the team. This stuff is usually done in the fall when the numbers all shake themselves out a little better. Players that retire from sports due to medical issues don't count in the total number, but I am not sure how long that takes to take affect.
