Alabama has a marquee matchup finalized for the hardwood next season. According to a report from The Tuscaloosa News' Cecil Hurt, the Crimson Tide's coach Avery Johnson just confirmed a deal to play a home-and-home series with college basketball power Arizona.

Per Hurt, Alabama would make the trip to Tucson & the first game would be on 12/9/17, with the Wildcats returning the favor with a journey to Tuscaloosa in 2018-19.

The trip, which would be more than a 1,500 mile journey via automobile, would appear to be an indication that Avery Johnson feels his program is ready for a "next level" test during the non-conference portion of the season.

The Crimson Tide showed glimpses of brilliance during a 19-15 season a year ago, advancing to the SEC tournament semifinals prior to a first-round exit from the NIT following a loss to Richmond.

With a nice recruiting class coming in, Johnson's squad took a major step in the direction the NCAA tournament when leading scorer Braxton Key revealed that he was not entering the NBA Draft and will return for his sophomore season.

The #1 ranked Arizona Wildcats are a perennial national title contender, went 32-5 last season before losing to Xavier in the Sweet 16.

So that means Arizona's non-conference home games in 2017 are UConn and Alabama, NAU, UMBC, Cal State Bakersfield, Long Beach St & North Dakota State.
