There seems to be some common sense to the proposal. The kids that need the extra year to developed or graduate get it and the ones that would get out in a year or two still can. If they can tighten up the portal at the same time, we might even start seeing the type of program loyalty that we used to love. And, of course, I'd love to see some more Tobe.

Biggest issue in the grand scheme of things is that Kids are staying in HS for 1 or 2 extra years when and wherever possible now. They are treated better at these "Academies" than most Colleges. If there was a change to the NBA Rule of going Pro straight from HS it would help College Basketball much more in terms of being able to tighten up NIL and Transferring.

Since that will not happen, the only thing left to do is create a Salary Cap for every team and to make Contracts with the players so that they can sign a "4 Year 10mil" deal, and if they want out of their deal to transfer, they can pay a transfer fee from their own pocket with actual Tax Forms AND the Poaching team has to match the Fee with an extra penalty.

Example, Aristode gets paid 1 Million per season at Arizona. Transfer Fee is $250,000. He will have had to pay taxes on his 1 Million upfront and then pay another $250,000 to buy himself out. Then whichever school poaches him has to pay $500k to UofA's NIL fund aka Double the money.

This would sift out who is "Worth" paying. Schools will have to pony up the money, but the Kids who are overpaid to begin with will have to learn how to manage their money too along the way.

Also every HS Nationally should have to do at least a Semester of Financial Management Course with a National Test at the end like the SAT/ACT testing.

If you Score in X Category Tier then you can/cannot earn X amount of money. Enough of the illiteracy issues and over reliance on A.I. Chat bots to do the work.

This would at least uphold some sanctity to Education.

If none of this makes sense to anyone at least in an Outline POV / Perspective then the next step would be to stop College Basketball and Football, make it all just an extension of High School instead. Have a circuit of Academy teams having their own 32 team league and 35 game schedules with a NIT Format Bracket at the end for the Ratings.

I think that the Wild Wild West is coming to an end soon. The kids were given the leash and it only took 3 or 4 years for it to devolve into absolute chaos where it costs $1 Million to get a phone call meeting.

I wish you were right but it's hard to go backwards, when the Wild West opened up without rules. Perhaps somebody will step in and create reasonable regulations but realistically they'd get sued by every selfish "student-athlete", event if they attempted to be fair.

I am ready to put an end to this entire 5th year eligibility discussion.
If you did not sustain an injury, or a medical issue that physically kept you off the floor?
Play your four years and thank you for your time.

I'd be good with this too.

To me, it's puts too much of a strain on the program.
Does he return, head to the NBA, or overseas, or enter the portal?
Let them walk after four and focus on the incoming class.
It is bad enough freshmen and JUCO prospects are getting on due to free agency.
This is another step in limiting the opportunities of others.
