The one thing that I have noticed over the past roughly decade is that the bluebloods do not have as much prestige as they used to.
So I fell in love with basketball around 2002 right?
Duke/Kansas/Kentucky/UNC were still on top of the college basketball world.
Indiana/UCLA was still trying to figure things out, and UConn was casting their own vote with Calhoun.
Fast forward almost a quarter-century right?
Duke/UConn are the only programs still a mainstay amongst college basketball's elite.
KU/UK/UNC have dropped down a few pegs.
Indiana/UCLA has not been relevant since Sampson/Howland left.
Now look at the programs that are considered elite nowadays:
Arizona
Duke
Florida
Gonzaga
Houston
Iowa State
UConn
What is my point?
Those bluebloods are not on stable ground.
Why leave a stable program that you have rocking (like Arizona) to go to a program like North Carolina where you are only going to be judged by legends like Smith/Williams and how often you beat Duke?
Lloyd is already the second-best coach in program history.
If he continues on this trajectory?
Arizona is going to be best program in the West, and there will not be anything that Gonzaga/USC and the like would be able to do about it, even in this NIL era!

That's exactly why Bill Self has stayed at KU, in lieu of taking an NBA or "other" blue blood offer.
Lloyd deeply loves Arizona. As long as we continue to pay him like an elite coach, he'll remain in Tucson throughout his career.
Just ask Jedd's family about those money moves.
Tommy is gonna stay and if he doesn't, we go out and get another great coach. Throw the bag at Ben McCollum if Tommy doesn't take it.
