SMU has a good offense but we match up well with them. They're erratic; beat good teams (Miami/Louisville) but lost to bad teams.
The Cats need redemption in San Diego because the Nebraska debacle was our last experience out there...

KSU and ISU both lost their coaches. If the staffs didn't also leave, assistants could take over. I understand their decisions, although you're right about the seniors (who will miss out on their final bowl opportunities).

Yes I was there for the massacre of Suh. This matchup may be competitive. I wanted a team like LSU as we will learn Nothing about our team in this matchup, but the likely outcome of playing a good game vs LSU would be losing players who prove they can hang with SEC level players to the portal.
At least vs SMU, as the last bowl game before the Final 4, there will be a spotlight on both schools as interesting options to consider transferring into instead of out of.
That said, I will be watching to see who opts out and "pre-transfers" before the game.

The Seniors are well compensated for their services rendered and should consider life after College Football if they aren't Pro Prospects (or find a Grad Transfer situation and not risk injury)
SMU beat Clemson by 11, who lost to LSU by 7. We indirectly have a 4 point margin of error, to beat LSU on January 2nd!

Well we both know that is not how football works, but I can appreciate the Comp Value. It is up there with the MIGHTY BETHUNE COOKHAMS.
Again, I am interested in seeing the Ins and Outs of the Portal. Brennan has a chance to mop up some SEC and Big10 Talent if he plays it right.

BYU should have made the CFP IMHO. Alabama made it by virtue of scoring 1 touchdown and basically 1 or 2 first downs in the 2nd half of a game vs Georgia getting blasted and it didn't go against them at all. BYU played a strong game vs what I think will be a darkhorse to make the finals in Teck's Ass Tech until they just made a ton of self inflicted mistakes in the mid 3rd quadrant. So the respect Bama got was unfounded if penalizing BYU that badly
I don't think Tulane deserved it at all. The James Madison Dukes did. There is no reason for 2 Mid Majors to go into this bracket. 1 is plenty enough.
Virginia shat their bed and lost their bid. That is nonsense too. Miami didn't earn anything at all.
I also think Notre Dame should have gotten in. Ole Miss and Alabama should have been left out. The Politics are way too strong for the CFP and it is sickening to me.
