Aristode already has the body of a 28 year old NBA player. He can shoot the 3 and drives hard to the basket. I've seen him defend in person and he's a straight menace on defense He can defend at every position including against centers. He's also played against grown good competition and is coming in under the radar after an injury derailed his senior season.

I see him starting at the 3 come BIG 12 conference play.

Fun facts on Dwayne Aristode below:

High School and AAU Stats
Aristode's stats reflect his versatile skill set as a scorer, rebounder, and playmaker, though his senior year was cut short by injury.

Brewster Academy (Junior Year Averages):12.0ppg
5.6 rebounds per game
2.6 assists per game
1.0 steals per game

Nike EYBL (Expressions Elite, 2024 Season):12.7 ppg
4.8 rebounds per game
1.9 assists per game

Shooting Efficiency: Known for improved 3-point shooting (around 35% on high volume in AAU), with scouts noting his ability to stretch the floor as a forward.

Commitment to Arizona Announcement Date: Committed to the University of Arizona on October 13, 2024, during his senior year of high school. Officially signed his National Letter of Intent on November 13, 2024, during the early signing period.

Finalists: Chose Arizona over elite programs including Duke, USC, Michigan State, and the Australian NBL Next Stars professional development program.

Recruiting Quote: "The winning culture Tommy Lloyd has built at Arizona is remarkable. They play fast and have the right balance between structure and giving players freedom." He visited Tucson in January 2024, which solidified his decision.

Recruitment Timeline: Arizona pursued him aggressively, with head coach Tommy Lloyd visiting him multiple times. Lloyd, a renowned international recruiter from his Gonzaga days (where he landed stars like Domantas Sabonis and Rui Hachimura), made Aristode a priority.

Class Context: First commit in Arizona's 2025 class; joins a loaded freshman group including five-stars Koa Peat and Brayden Burries, plus other international talents Ivan Kharchenkov.

Playing Style and Projected Role at Arizona Strengths: Elite defender with versatility to guard 1-4 positions due to his 6'10" wingspan and quick feet. Strong rebounder with good hands; emerging shooter who can create off the dribble. High basketball IQ from international experience.

Areas of Growth: Occasional inconsistencies in motor and body language noted by scouts; needs to build strength for Big 12 physicality. Injury recovery will be key heading into 2025-26.

Projected Impact: Expected to contribute immediately as a freshman in the 2025-26 season, potentially as a two-way wing in Tommy Lloyd's up-tempo system. Arizona enters 2024-25 ranked No. 9-10 nationally with five international players already on the roster (e.g., Motiejus Krivas from Lithuania, Anthony Dell'Orso from Australia), making Aristode the sixth global addition in recent cycles.

Team Fit: Part of Arizona's push for a diverse, international roster—now seven freshmen for 2025-26, emphasizing global talent pipelines. Lloyd has called him a "great piece to start off our next generation of Arizona Wildcats."

Fun Facts and Recent BuzzGlobal Pipeline: Continues Arizona's trend of landing international stars; Lloyd's Gonzaga alumni status helped, as he previously recruited from Lithuania, France, Japan, Canada, and Croatia.

Injury Resilience: Despite missing most of his senior season, Aristode "kept receipts" on doubters, training rigorously and staying engaged with his team.

Social Media Presence: Active on X (formerly Twitter) as @Dwaynearistode2
, where he announced his signing with a celebratory post.

Future Outlook: Projected as a potential NBA lottery pick post-college, with comparisons to versatile wings like Franz Wagner (Michigan/Orlando Magic) due to his size, shooting, and defense.

If Aristode ends up being the best freshman in this class, Lloyd better be ready to reload with this 2026 class.
The way things are trending, there is going to be room for at least three 5* prospects on this roster.
It does not need to be repeated, but there will be a handful of departures after this season.
Whether that be for eligibility/transfer or the NBA; Lloyd is going to need another 4-5 man recruiting class in 2026.

I stand behind my thoughts on DA. He has huge amounts of ability. The things that kept him of the floor are the very things that put him in the TP. At 6'8" 230, if you ain't rebounding, you ain't playing much. Then to complain about the lack of PT? His biggest problem is the difference between his natural talents and the actual game he wants to play. When he gets that aligned he will be damn good. I would hate to see him waste his career opportunity with bad attitude.
Wish him well and send him off. Next up?

In addition to the lack of rebounding, Aristode's footwork wasn't quick enough on defense to keep his opponent from making plays.  With an offseason of defensive work, the kid will be NBA ready.  His shot is already stellar and with a nice ball-fake, he'll get to the basket with ease.

The prediction about DA being the best freshman prospect isn't "over" yet.  He could easily become the best pro, depending on who coaches him throughout the next couple years.

It's doubtful but not impossible. Texas lost a majority of their talent but replenished it with five quality shooters, which wouldn't leave room for Aristode.

If he wanted him, he could.

Miller took a terrible team to a terrible no-call over the back away from the Elite 8 this year.

He is a true master of Coaching in Tournament Basketball if nothing else. There are not many Coaches that have his ability.

Also funny how the Pack-Line is what did Arizona in ultimately. All 3 losses technically. We managed to survive a few games against it though to our Talent's credit. Tommy only relies on Players making it happen. Not an X's and O's guy.

So true. It was all X's and O's, which led to Arizona's stellar possessions when Trier had the ball in his hands. Zero offensive movement against teams who purposely played zone because they knew that the Cats couldn't penetrate the lane to save their lives. Masterful.
